What you are describing appears to be normal, and may improve over the next week as the pads bed in.
If you still think something is unusual, or has changed since the pads and discs were changed, take it back to the company which changed them (unless, of course, you did it yourself)
Hi,
I just bought a used VW Passat TDI (110) estate but it has a few problems I need to sort.
The biggest headache is that the steering has a loud groaning and creaking noise. Generally this can be heard with the vehicle stationary or a low speed (below 30mph). The steering wheel only needs a small movement to make noise, unlike my old passat where the steering track rod ends wore. On that the noise was more clunking/straining at the steering lock this is more like "rusty spring" sort of noise and appears on all steering movement.
Before I approach a garage, any suggestions as to the cause and potential impact?
The car has been well maintained and passed an MOT only 2 days ago so a little baffled at present... Read more
Had exactly the same thing with my lads Passat.
It was the lower transverse arm that is a cast alloy component that has the lower ball joint cast in it.
The ball joint starts to wear & makes the noise.
Pattern ones are about £40 from Eurocarparts or GSF & not too hard to fit.
The inner mounting bolt is a bit inaccesible & tight.
Should the ABS light, illuminate and the go off, when ignition is on. And remain OFF when car is started?
or should it come on with the ignition and remain ON, and swich off AFTER the engine is started Read more
No matter what car it is - its a MOT Requirment, that the Light comes ON - and then goes OFF, if its stays on then its faliure, if it doesnt come and at all this is also a faliure
I'm a contractor that works several months in Europe.
I would like to take my car over on more than the usual 1-3 months allowance on UK insurance.
Does anyone know if there are specialist insurers in the UK that will offer longer term cover when abroad.
Do any of the regular insures offer more generous terms.
The car would only be used for Social and Domestic and need only be third pary.
I really don't want to go the route of taking out insurance in other countries.

Ford are planning to cut a further 14000 jobs in the USA & Canada which is very tragic news for those effected.
The reason I mention this sad news though is that I read so many times on this forum that "robots build cars" and I want to make people realise that robots do not build cars - people do.
Robots weld cars then after that they are hand built.
Ford are not scrapping 14000 robots.
That is why it is so improtant to invest in proper process engineering as the Japanese do and the others are copying. Read more
BB & madf - I agree totally with both of you!
A driver who was involved in a fatal smash that killed a father-to-be who was riding a child's motorbike has been fined £500. {info added so people have half a clue before deciding on whether it is worth clicking on the link or not! DD}

In my opinion, take to the road on such a vehicle and get involved in an accident with a law abiding motorist it's tough. I live near a similar idiot, whose aged about 14, he regularly runs around the area on a small motorbike. I live on quite a busy road and he happily shoots out of side roads, screams up and down a nice straight back road behind our house, flies up and down pavements. No helmet, no leathers, no insurance, no licence, no MOT etc etc. If he should run in to me and I am judged to have 'cut a corner' which leads to his death or injury I would be well hacked off.

Hi
Another query regarding my fathers 2.4 litre camry. Basically, I am aware that the conservation or protection underneath the car has not been done by toyota. The car is a cmary right hand drive, but it is made in Japan. It looks like they did not do the protection needed.
How can I contact toyota to ask why this hadn't been done, and maybe getting costs towards this. It is a 2002 car by the way, and was bought second hand.
Thanks

Can anyone tell me where on the engine my turbo is?
I have a Rover 400 D. I've lost the power from my turbo and had a look around. I found a slight split on a pipe at the back of the engine on a a part which has got a rod going to it and a small pipe running to the front of the fuel pump ( think it's the fuel pump).
Please help!! Read more
looking from the bottom of the car find the exhaust front pipe and follow it up you should see something like a half circle thats your turbo maybe a heatshield covering from the top?
Whilst browsing through a popular online car selling website I saw an ex Thames Valley Police unmarked Vauxhall Omega for sale, 03 plate 3.2 V6 Special 54,000 miles, £3995.
On looking at the photo in the ad the registration number rung a bell from a recent WOMA police auction.
I referred back to my scribbles from that day and found that the vehicle in question was sold for less than £1000 as an insurance total loss, with some quite substantial offside front damage from what I can remember, it certainly wasn't driveable.
The ad on the website states that the car is in absolutely excellent condition and is clear on HPi.
Maybe one of our resident traders can whizz this through their HPi check out of curiosity?
I'd be very surprised if Thames Valley Police haven't recorded it on the register.
How do these traders get away with it?? Read more
A lot of S/R have quite a bit of damage - thieves are not generally sympathetic drivers (as in 'drive it like you stole it').

If it's a reputable dealer and the price reflects the missing logbook and you can take the loss if it ends in tears then make an offer. Otherwise: run away, run away and run away a bit more ;-)
