Hi
Another query regarding my fathers 2.4 litre camry. Basically, I am aware that the conservation or protection underneath the car has not been done by toyota. The car is a cmary right hand drive, but it is made in Japan. It looks like they did not do the protection needed.
How can I contact toyota to ask why this hadn't been done, and maybe getting costs towards this. It is a 2002 car by the way, and was bought second hand.
Thanks
Greg

Are you on about rust protection?
Jap cars don't have it do they? Or don't to the extent that we have over here as they don't need it. By Jap cars, I mean imports originally from Japan and not Japanese Manufacturers.

I would be amazed if this was missed and was not to spec.
If it is I would think Toyota would not hesitate in fixing it for you (if it is a UK spec car though).
Your best bet would be to go to a dealer first and ask them.

It sounds like a grey import. If it is Toyota(GB) have no responsibiliy for its build or subsequent warrant(ies)

How do you know if a car is a grey import? I'm sure it isn't, but the rust proofing at the bottom leads me to believe that I might be wrong!

Oh, and it has a full service history in the UK!

I have written a letter to toyota. Watch this space to see if they respond!

I'd be suprised if they don't but we await your update.
Good luck.

If you plan to keep the car - worth getting it done - shouldn't cost too much?

If its got 17-digit VIN then 99% certain it is a UK-model (JDM models have shorter VIN numbers).

Isn't a square number plate the usual give away for a Jap import?
