Well done, you know it makes sense.
Hi all,
Someone I know has a 10,000 mile, 1 year old Mazda 6 diesel which has worn out its clutch. Is this a known problem with this car? He has taken other cars to the 100,000mile mark before without the need for a new clutch, so it doesn't appear the problem is down to him, though you never know.
Dealer he bought the car off is saying he has to pay for replacement as the clutch is not a warranty item. Read more
HJs car-by-car breakdown
Clutch vibration on diesels can be cured FOC by a dealer-fit modification (though this may be confused with the a/c clutch mod under 'recalls').
Enough reports of premature clutch and clutch/flywheel failure to state that the model seems to suffer a much higher rate of this than would be normal. One reader had a spate of problems in two and a half years:- new clutch (18,000miles). New rear tyres due to mis-alignment (20,000miles).
Can anyone give any suggestions on getting our 2003 Mondeo Zetec tdci started please? Hubbie says engine just won't turn over - lights come on and everything as if going to start. There is no flashing plug-light like I've seen mentioned on other threads. Read more
Thanks so much to all for your help with this. I really appreciate it. Kind regards, J
as the heading says
i am looking to spend around 10-12kk for a family car diesel with low mileage as i do about 20k per year

Aprilia, why do these parts, which may need to be renewed, so often seize? Combination of reasons obviously, but manufacturers should be pressed to design and make things properly. Obviously a lambda sensor subject to constant very high temperatures and sprayed by mud and road dirt is going to rust in if it can, but injectors?
Brake bleed nipples can seize and shear sometimes necessitating a new caliper or cylinder. A smear of copper ease or something similar on the threads will prevent that from happening. Surely there must be a way of making injectors removable?
The usual reason given for skimping is cost. If seized 250 quid injectors are going to lead to replacement of the whole engine (!), perhaps charging a couple of quid more at the point of sale would be worthwhile from everyone's point of view.
My wife very nearly ran one these over this evening very close to where we live. Pulls out of a junction to turn right (after looking both ways several times) and car is halfway across the junction mouth, only to be confronted by irate cyclist in dark clothing, very dim front light who has stopped inches from her drivers wing. She did not see him until the last second(its residential but not lit on that junction) but he would have seen her (and heard the car) from maybe 5 or ten yards at least by the nature of the junction layout. Not saying my wife is 100% blameless in this situation here but like any other road user if you cant see them, how are you supposed know they are there ? By the way, she teaches cycling proficiency at the local primary school where visbility at night is hammered home regulary so was pretty hacked off by the whole inicident. Read more
Might pass for a citizen's arrest situation. Worth a try if you're young or drunk or mad or self-righteous or bolshy enough.
I am not a motoring clued up person. I know how to drive, and I know the speed limits. but its that which has alerted me.
to be quite blunt, you may remember my thread asking for help between 1.3 D and 1.4 P corsa engine. Since then I have been looking into corsavans aswell as cars.
however, someone from my college class found out that I was looking at it. And he said something about lower speed limits, different tax, different MOT, different insurance
I dont mind paying slightly more on tax mot and insurance, if it means i get all the extra space. However is what he said about lower speed limits true. Its well crap that the limit is 70 as is i dont think i could take driving at 60 (considering il also be doing a lot of long distance driving.)
The reason im questioning this is because they guy who told me is a bit of a tard. I wouldnt trust him as far as throw him.
If someone can confirm or deny this, please do.
I apologise if it seems like a really stupid question. But this is really annoying me.
Thanks in advance Read more
>And what about the Citroen Berlingo? Van first, then car later.
I think it's built on the ZX/306 floorpan with 405 estate suspension. It's a Frankenvan alright.
