Hi,
The car windscreen wipers are squealing, juddering and smearing across my windscreen. As the car is a year old and done 30k miles so they must be due for replacement.
Has anybody any good recommendations for car windscreen wipers. I would rather pay extre for quality.
Last time I replaced my car windscreen wipers, they new replacement was worse than the old worn wipers!

Hello
I have a few small dents in my Peugeot 206 with metallic paint, does anyone know of a cheap easy way to get these dents out. The paint has not been cracked, they are bumps from cyclists whilst it was sitting in a car park.
Any feedback, experience etc, recommendations would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance

Another such company are Dent Devils who will come to your home and charge approx £75 per panel ( even if you have more than one dent per panel).

I've got a VW Polo P Reg (97) 1.6 Classic Saloon (100BHP)
I bought it in September, and its always been serviced at garages by previous owners. Now its my car - and its been almost 5k miles since last change - and seeing as I'm about to do a long drive through France next week, i've decieded to do a change of oil this weekend. HOWEVER (you knew something was coming!) the oil filter on the car at the moment is a very large diesel oil filter (according the local spares shop who had to check what I was going on about when I said that the one they sold me was too small!).
Yesterday when I was in Halfords I had a quick peek at the oil filter selection chart - and it listed 3 possible ones that it could be! Seeing as I can't go by the filter on the car at the moment - can anyone shed any light as to what filter I actually do need. I think that it is the 1F engine in this car if that is any help.
Thanks in Advance

Thank you for the quick reply.
The VW dealer (I thought they would know!) eventually found out which one it was too - giving me a part number (O6A115561B), so I'll go and check that I have the right one - or get a new one!
I have to say, when I bought the car I did notice the filter and was shocked by its size - but assumed it was correct as it had been done at a garage! How foolish I can be sometimes!
The bottom line for using a car is will it get there without breaking down, and probably second will it be beset by electrical and mechanical niggles/ faults during the period of ownership. All the reliability surveys seem to say buy Japanese. Last weekend I rented a Nissan Almera 1.4S for a couple of days. This was the worst car I've driven; terrible ride, unsettled by every minor undulation in the road, indifferent gear change and engine, poor rear interior space etc It's the only car I've driven which made this driver feel carsick as well as the passengers. I know this by no means represents all Japanese cars, but however reliable it may be I was very relieved to get back into my (poorly rated) VW and actually enjoy driving again. Read more
I've got a Espace 2.2Dt, with 57k mile on the clock ,which has over the last couple of days developed a hum noise from the engine bay. It occurs while driving and gets louder with speed, and disappears at low revs/speeds. It appears to be at its loudest at about 65-70mph. It goes when the clutch is pressed in, so as such I can't get it to happen of the drive to aid me locate it. I've read a few threads on here with regards to the crank thrust washers failing which has got me worried!
Thanks in advance to any advice.

If it is making the noise with the clutch in that lets the gearbox off the hook. Diff bearings only audible while on the move so it aint those. Thrust release bearing could be the source but would then go quiet when clutch out as it should no longer be spinning.

Simplicate and add lightness!!
Has anyone got any experience or comments about the V40 LPG model? I have seen a couple advertised at our local superstore, 53 reg with delivery mileage for £14k. At this price they seem to be a good replacement for my 2000W, 75k Vectra SRi 140 Dualfuel. This has given me pretty reliable service over the last 3 years but it might be time to move on.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I bought a used car the end of October. Along with its current MOT I also received what I now understand to be the bottom end of the V5 document. I remember it had a red colouration to it and had the vehicle details etc. While at the Post Office obtaining a tax disc I was told that I had to turn that bit in and fill out a change of ownership form. I did just that, got my tax disc and thought that was the end of it.
Yesterday I got stopped by the police and the officer asked for my logbook. He looked a bit concerned when I asked him what that was, but he clarified by saying the registration documents for the car. I told him the post office story and he said I should have gotten it in the mail by now. I didn't know I was supposed to get anything in the mail. He took my name and address and radioed it in with (I assume) my car reg number, but I couldn't hear the reply. He seemed bothered that I had no registration documents, but after a min or two he said I was free to go, which is good, but it left me wondering about the next time I am stopped. What should I have in the car as far as documentation?.
This is my first vehicle purchase in the UK. I bought the car from a home trader and followed his (and others) advice for registering the car, but now I am not sure if what I did was correct or sufficient. Read more
Yes Polic do have the power to request production. Used to be a "probationer special" (no doubt DVD will elaborate, increasingly done now especially when ANPR is in town. Apart from generating more work for the Police this has had a significant increase on my firm's workload.
My sons Tdi 110 with AFN engine looses power. If you accelerate hard in say 3rd gear, as the rev counter reaches about 3000rpm, which must be about maximum boost pressure from the turbo, the engine looses power as though the turbo had been disconnected. I suspect the ECU has detected a problem & restricted the fuel supply. I swopped the Air Flow sensor off my Tdi Golf but symptoms were exactly the same. You can hear the turbo still singing after the power loss but there is obviously not enough fuel reaching the injectors. If you turn off engine & restart, the engine pulls strongly again until 3k revs as before. Has anyone got any ideas ?
Thanks.

Problem has returned , so it wasn,t the EGR valve as its still disconnected.
At the same time as I disconnected this valve, I picked up on Peter D's reply & gave the wastegate pivot a squirt of WD40.
So i'm thinking that may have unstuck the wastegate for a short time.
Does anyone know if this can be fixed permenantly or is it just a case of getting an exchange turbo ?
My 98 Escort 1.6 Automatic starts normally but stalls as soon as I change gear to Reverse or Drive, mostly first thing in the morning or more so in cold weather. One of the mechanics said it is to do with EMU and the other with its Auto box. What is your opinion
