I've recently followed two cars with very offensive 'remarks' stuck on the back bumpers and/or boot lids. They seemed to be 'professional' type stickers. I wouldn't dream of quoting them here but they were on the lines of 'Eat my ****** etc. etc.
Probably another minefield, but how would the police react to such things? I know it's a free country but ......... Read more
I see many every day...
How do I go about reporting them? Read more
But I suppose if I
was ever reported in this way, I would want the witness
invited to Court to give evidence.
To give evidence of something that can be confirmed by DVLA records and a quick visit/drive/walk past by local police?
As mentioned above, a police officer gets paid to attend court, the public rarely do at a rate that reflects their actual income.
Ah, British justice...... Procedure before common sense every time.
This is further to another post regarding a court appearance for \"road tax dodging\".
I\'m representing myself in court (solicitors don\'t seem to want the business)and to help with my confidence on the day I\'ve produced two documents to assist me. One is a graphical representation of the timeline and the other is what I intend to read out from.
If anyone would like to have a look I would really appreciate some feedback. I went to havering court on friday to sit in the public gallery but the court was closed (another days leave wasted)
Anyway the only easy way I could think of sharing the docs was to setup a temporary email account.
[snip]
You can then read the email and download the docs (they are virus checked by hotmail as you download)
If anyone knows a better way to share excel and word docs please let me know.
Thanks

The email account only has a copy of the docs, the originals are on my PC. Thanks for taking the time to look at the docs. You've done exactly what I was hoping someone would - take the role of the cynic and try pick holes in my account. This should help me be more prepared for 'awkward' questions.
None of the 'evidence' that I have can prove it was never used on the road - as someone else pointed out "unless the car was under 24hr surveilance"
Maybe the lack of parts receipts shows that it wasn't being used and therefore didn't wear out and needed no new parts?
It was the cambelt failure that prompted me to take it off the road, the car was already in good condition and just needed tidying up. Once the cambelt was fixed I then moved on to the comestic work. That's why I was able to get it 'up and running' in a matter of days. In fact to get it on the road I didn't have to anything other than take it for the MOT.
The fact that I used for the car show does imply that I may have been tempted to use the car before. The difference is that I used it without road tax, if I used it before it would have been without tax, mot and insurance - which is more serious? I think MOT and insurance is FAR more important than road tax - although it seems the courts don't see it that way.
I don't have any record of the mileage when I took the car off the road, all I can prove is the mileage covered in that period and I have no way to prove that the mileage was clocked up when the car was taxed. Although I would hope that common sense would apply.
Thanks for reveiwing my notes, I think you came up with some great questions.

I have a 3 month old MX5 Nevada that I bought from new. With the onset of cold weather it has been having problems starting in the mornings. Some times it is fine, other times it will reluctantly chug to life and sometimes turn over 10-15 times before firing. This seems to happen more when it is on a slight slope....any ideas anyone? It's almost as if petrol is not getting through....It's been to one dealer who said that they couldnt find any problems!
Additionally to this, when I pull up and stop (say traffic lights) the revs dip so low that it almost stalls and then evens out...ideas?
And to top it all off, the roof is starting to sag noticeably....
Any help/guidelines much appreciated!

Sorry, that should have been "run the engine with the fuel pump fuse removed"
I have bought a replacement bumper for my '98 Honda Prelude but as it is only supplied by Honda UK unpainted I need to get it sprayed. Does anyone have any recommendations for sprayshops in the Kingston, Surrey or Plymouth area (my job takes me to both places) that would take the time to do a quality job (it is silver metallic). I think Honest John mentioned somewhere called Coloursmart or something a while back but I can't remember the exact name.
Many thanks in advance for any advice given.

Isn't it time that we had a nationwide (and logical) standard for road signs and markings? Some speed limit signs are quite small, some are garish, some have pre-warning signs etc. Road markings sometimes make no sense whatsoever ~ when they extend right across the road it's sometimes not apparent which direction of travel they apply to. And some cross-hatched markings appear to be quite irrational. One I've come appears to be intended to discourage you from getting close to the edge of the road at a left turn ~ what is that all about?

Northbound on the M5 just south of Birmingham is a single 50mph sign. It occurs just before a shallow bend, I've always assumed it is a leftover from when they rebuilt the motorway in the 80's.
There is of course no derestriction sign to end the 50.

Or all of the above ;-) (but posting at a sensible time today)
I recently bought a a 1992 vw polo genesis. I noticed that the warm air ducting has been removed and the manifold changed so a pipe can no longer be connected to the manifold. Will this effect the car in anyway? Read more
Hi Steve,
Yes, the warm air ducting is quite important on this engine, as I have seen several cars suffering icing around the throttle butterfly without it. Wonder why the manifold has been changed ? In the absence of anything on the manifold to connect the ducting to I would simply try to fix it as close as possible to the manifold, and at least by taking it around the back of the engine it is going to be a lot warmer that it is at present.
Some of these also have an electric manifold heater immediately below the throttle body, which can be checked for resistance and supply, or simply be seeing if it is getting hot. But be careful, it does get b****y hot.
