  The brakes work brilliantly and stop me really quickly but I feel I need too press the pedal a bit further than when I first put the pads in. Cheers for any help

  Hello, I have noticed recently that the passenger side front brakes are getting around 6-7 degrees hotter than the drivers side front. I took the brakes on that side apart and checked the caliper and it goes in and out easily no problem. I regreesed the slider pins and made sure the ears on the pads could slide easily aswell but this has made no difference.

  Using a syringe to flush and bleed the rear brakes, it'll suck OK but it blows very slowly, Stripped and cleaned both wheel cylinders. They weren't bad, and it didn't make much difference. Connecting syringe directly to the brake pipe going forward gives fast bi-directional flow, so its apparently a property of the rear.

  Today when I drive my car for the 1st time after my vacation, there is a weird rattling noise from the rear tyre side when I brake the car. The noise is more obvious when I drive the car down the hill. What problem could it be? Why there is a rattling noise? Could it be a parking brake problem? Please advise. Thank you.

  Not long after driving away we have noticed a rhythmic noise coming from the rear in the last few seconds before the car comes to a stop, the rhythm slowing down as the car does. It doesn't sound like the brake pads although, naturally,  the brakes are being applied at this point. Any ideas what it might be? The car is going back to the garage today and I don't want to be fobbed off as I have just bought the car from them and want the issue resolved.

  I suppose the real answer would be for an EU directive to fit a timed module to new cars so that when it is stationary, and the brake lights applied for , say, more than 10 seconds, a light of equal intensity would illuminate on the instrument binnacle, either that or  the airbag should go off.

  When lifting hand brake on movement the noise Does Not go away .   Removed hub and inspected the brake shoes / cleaned dust .. re assembled but noise is still there ..   Any help please ?

  I have checked the cap is tight but any suggestions as to why it is doing this? Not seen these symptoms on any other car I've had in the past and both brake and clutch functionality is normal.   Thanks in advance.

  My 2003 A4tdi has recently started showing a brake warning light on strt up. This goes out when I press the brake peel and dons,t come on again until the next time the car has been left overnight. I initially thought it was down to the car being left on a slope but this has now been dis proved.

  I have been getting a slight grinding sounds from OSF wheel area when turning right on smaller roundabouts and tighter junctions.   This morning there was quite strange noise from the OSF brake when using a slightly heavy braking to a junction. Possibly a grinding sounds.   Then in the afternoon I was cruising on the motorway when I had a droning sound from the same side.

  My car went into the garage last week for the rear brake drums servicing (the brakes were binding). The mechanic said the handbrake cable on the driver's side is stretched so it might be worth replacing both completely - the passenger side is stretched but not as bad.

  ABS warning light comes on mainly after an hour of fast driving without touching the brakes.    On other occasions when I brake I hear a graunching noise from the front accompanied by small jolts from the front as if the car was tripping over a step accompanied by the ABS light sometimes but not always.

  My 10 yr car has an intermittent fault displaying low brake fluid. My local garage has diagnosed as fault code 5383, brake fluid sensor electrical fault. No live feed is reaching the sensor. It has been suggested to take my car to peugeot as there could be a wiring loom issue.
• BMW 320d 04 - Knocking noise when braking 18 Feb 2013 (Forum)
  A short while ago I had the front wishbones replaced in my car as the rubbers were worn and I was getting alot of knocking sounds, along with a knock when I applied brakes, and thought this was all linked due to the worn links. Everything else is now cured apart from this knock/tap sort of sound. It only knocks once, when you first apply brakes and doesn't happen if you are very gentle on the pedal, and sounds like its coming from the front near side, any ideas?

    hi, had a warning light come up on my 307 sw 1.6 diesel   checked and my brake fluid in the reserve tank had gone. topped it up and all seemed ok   couple days later the warning came back on again, topped up again and checked for leaks   when pumping the brake can hear air from under the passenger footwell   have looked under there and there is a pump(see picture)  under there (google says a booster??)

  I took my car in for new brake pads and a brake fluid change to a garage (well known chain) - which shall remain nameless for the moment - in November. I went back a few hours later and paid for the work, assuming they had done their job correctly.

  could you help me to pinpoint what is wrong with Ants car. his brake lights are not working. i checked the bulbs with a meter, 21w 5 and they both are ok. no voltage to the light fittings when pressed.  disconnected the brake light switch, shorted the switch on both sides with a meter but the lights did not come on.

  On my MOT brake test, one rear wheel locked up on the maximum force test at about half the reading of the other one, actually less than the force shown at that wheel for the handbrake. The front brakes were about as expected and the total force was still far above the required 50%.

  my sisters escort has the worst brakes ever although the discs and pads and shoes are fine the brake pedal remains really spoungy, the handbrake works great though. all have been bleed so i decided to upgrade them by fitting mondeo mk2 calipers and discs theses are much bigger and required some minor modification but im still unable to get a good pedal seems like the front pistons are creeping back a bit from the disc rather than staying tight against it. just wondering has anyone had the same problem or can help in anyway thanks

  Stepson just got a tidy Accent GDX with 80,000 on the clock: took it to my trusted indie for an oil/filter/cambelt change, test driving it the ABS triggered with light braking. I had the same unexpected ABS operation a couple of days ago, no ABS warning light and the brakes work fine (plenty of pad and good discs) so it is a bit of a puzzle. Is this likely to be an electronic fault (bad connection?)
