Dacia Duster 1.5 diesel 4x4 - New Dacia Duster 1.5 diesel 4x4 -first impressions 1 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Gears a bit notchy in fifth and sixth but will loosen up I guess. Good feel from the clutch. Brakes with a reassuring bite. Everything feels tight and sturdy, no rattles or thumps over road humps, general fit and finish good. I particularly like the controls for the heater/climate very easy to use. -
TOYOTA AYGO - Loud Grinding Noise - TOYOTA AYGO 20 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Interestingly this first happened when I came to a near standstill when lifting off the accelerator (no brakes were used for this) and as the gearbox was automatically downshifting. I immediately pulled over and then continued for a little while longer (no noise at idle). The noise sadly returned when driving off again and I swiftly returned home. -
Citroen C3 Picasso - Grounds to return a used car for a refund? 24 Mar 2020 (Forum)
I was informed the noise was coming from the rear wheel bearings. With this car the bearings are part of the rear brake disk assembly. £352 later for 2 new disks and pads the sound has gone. The garage also informed me the tracking was 'significantly' off and was corrected free of charge (appears on invoice @ £0). -
Toyota Yaris - New car - first week review 7 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Cruise control Aircon Auto wipers Reversing camera Advanced safety systems using the ‘eyesight’ type technology – emergency braking, lane departure warning and road speed limit sign recognition, auto full beam system (but no auto lights!). Despite having them I turned them all off. DAB radio Excellent mpg – early days, but so far it looks like 45 around town, 50 on motorway. -
Vauxhall Astra GTC 2.0 SRI automatic - 16 Reg Astra GTC - Issues with Seller need advice 24 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Priori to doing this it took it round to a garage who put it on a ramp and did a thorough check underneath and found more issues listed below “O.s rear sill + quarter panel repair inadequately fitted due to not being correctly welded on sill section I.e panel coming away from the body nd not correctly mated or welded to original sill section thus making the vehicle structure unsafe. O.s.r brake pipe incorrectly fitted and rubbing on handbrake” I returned the car Friday 16th March and asked for a full refund explaining why and showed them photos and the garage report but was told in no uncertain terms that wasn’t going to happen. -
Quickest way towards the driving test in the uk. 13 Feb 2017 (Forum)
After been dismissed and ignore my many. I finally got an assesment lesson last Friday and besides incorporating the hand brake when first in line on a red line and exagerating my neck motion on the mirrors I am ready to go. The guy was supposed to schedule the test for next week but havent heard back and my anxiety is getting the best of me. -
Comparison information required. - 4x4, AWD, AllGrip, AllRoad, what's the difference? 12 Nov 2015 (Forum)
Apparently overlaid on any '4WD' system there is Traction Control, where a fast spinning wheel is braked, but I think the requirement is for automatic best traction and grip in normal driving, rather than recovering from a 'stuck' situation. 64,000 dollar question. Is there a comparison site that goes through all the different variations, linking them to the manufacturers model they appear on? -
Audi a3 cabriolet - Audi a3 cabriolet..problems after problems 31 Jul 2015 (Forum)
She took car to Audi for free healthcheck, they picked up on oil leak on engine..turbo jet gone..cambelt not changed...brake fluid not changed..alignment out..tyre condition..fail..not looking good. Contacted finance and dealer to let them know..no one seems to be taking responsibility...she paid for full check from Audi as now worried what else could be wrong..and it cost another £150..they wouldn't let car go until oil leak fixed add another 30 quid...fair do to them that courtesy car was provided...my daughter has contacted dealers who have admitted they 'misinformed' her about cambelt change, but refuse to pay for work or approve it through warranty or finance company. -
Skoda Octavia vRS estate - Impressions after 2,000 miles 14 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I had the extra expense of winter tyres: the old 16" steel wheels with the excellent Kleber Quadraxer all-weather tyres won't fit over the brake calipers of the mark 3 vRS. But at least that's two new sets of tyres bought upfront. Both sets of tyres are Continentals. Ride and handling are fine, and the steering on this vRS is much quicker and more direct than the old one. -
Very high mileage BMW's. 16 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Aside from stonechips, I would figure that a 200 mile motorway trip is less wear on the suspension, brakes, gearbox, engine, seats and interior than 100 miles of town mileage, which would feature frequent stop-start work, getting in, getting out, etc. So, in that respect, could it be the case that in reality the only negative aspect of this car over, say, a 2 year older example with 100k on the clock is the residual matter. -
Jaguar XF 2.2D - Is it safe?? 12 Sep 2013 (Forum)
I wanted to know how i stood driving a car that had a known manufactors fault that at some point the car will loose power, sterring and brakes and could quite easily cause an accident. The insurance guy said that it would be a very grey area as it would be down to me to keep it in a road worthy state. He stated that each accident would be treated on there own merit. -
Renault Clio dynamique Tom Tom 5 door - excessive steering vibration over rumble strips 14 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I wrote to you some months ago about this new car we bought and immediately noticed driving home excessive steering vibration going over rumble strips and ordinary road bumps (not potholes). Renault Cardiff kept telling us what it was not ie suspension, tracking, balance, brakes etc...... I asked you if you thought it was 'fit for purpose'........since we had other problems with it viz leaking panoramic sunroof, loose bolt inside the door frame, clutch needed a new spring after 500 miles......Some lunatic at renault cardiff said that the problem was because the tyre pressures in the front were too high and dropped them down.....I found out some days later when my wife told me what they had suggested as the problem and when I personally checked the pressures they were down and we were driving on seriously underinflated tyres. -

Government To Announce 80mph Motorway Limit 12 Oct 2011 (Forum)
As part of a compromise deal between the Coalition parties, the Government will also expand the use of 20mph zones in many urban areas. Brake, a road safety campaign, said the 80mph move was a mistake. “The government should be looking to reduce the number of deaths and injuries on our road not putting forward proposals which are likely to increase them,” the group said. -

Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 TDCi knocking noise diagnosed as the conrod 7 Jun 2010 (Forum)
4) I really don't know what my car is worth, so is it worth keeping (probably a silly question bearing in mind the clutch has never been replaced so far, I need a new auxillary tensioner thingy-me-jig plus a new set of brake discs, pads and a service!)? 5) Is it worth buying a second-hand engine? My partner and I are expecting our first baby, as well as trying to buy a house plus trying to buy her something reliable to drive - so while I could get a another car, cash flow is not great and I'd rather not unless I'd be stupid to put more money into this one! -
Peugeot 407 Coupe (2006 - ) - Ownership experience. 19 Aug 2009 (Forum)
It's heavy, but the 167bhp is more than enough to keep you going at a good lick and there is plenty of overtaking 'umphh' when you need it. Excellent handling and very reassuring brakes. It's a sublime motorway cruiser. Very, very quiet and just eats up the miles. The seats are supremely comfortable and the heated leather has been a boon on cold mornings. Excellent JBL stereo too. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 04 2.0 TDCi How I fixed glow plug problem for £28 9 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Anyway i would STRONGLY reccomend trying this first, its probably youre cheapest option and its worked for me on more than one occasion. If you want to know where it is. it fits in to the back of the bellhousing, if you follow the EGR pipe don to the bottom and put youre hand just past it you should feel hydraulic{brake}pipes and if you feel around there you should feel the top of a sensor with a wire comming out of it, this is it.You"ll need a n 8mm ring spanner{preferably rathet spanner} makes it much easier, just unloosen the boly you can feel beside the sensor and slide it out. -
