The head gasket has gone a car we bought two weeks ago - should we reject it?
I have recently (2 weeks today) purchased a car through a sales garage. After six days the car engine warning lights came on and it went in to limp mode. It has been off the road for the past eight days. It seems that the head gasket has gone. Would this have likely been a known issue with the garage? Is it possible to identify if there is further damage to the engine?
Should we get it fixed under warranty, or take back to the garage we purchased it from?

As you have experienced a significant fault so soon after purchase we would recommend returning the car to the dealer as soon as possible. Depending on how thoroughly the vehicle was inspected before sale it is possible but not certain that the dealer would have been aware of the issue. You should give the dealer an opportunity to repair the vehicle but if this is not successful you may have the option to reject it.
