Jaguar E-Pace gets plug-in hybrid power

Published 29 October 2020

The revised Jaguar E-Pace gets a refreshed exterior and interior, the latest Pivi Pro infotainment, new engines - including a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) option - and a new platform. The updated model is available to order now from £32,575.

The new P300e plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 200PS 1.5-litre three-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine and a 109PS (80kW) Electric Rear Axle Drive motor with an eight-speed transmission. It can cover up to 34 miles on electric power, with combined CO2 emissions of 44g/km and official fuel economy up to 141mpg.

Six of the E-Pace's seven new engines are hybridised, with just the entry-level 163PS 2.0-litre model getting a diesel-only engine. Two diesel mild-hybrids are available, in outputs of 163PS or 204PS paired with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo and nine-speed automatic gearbox.

Aside from the range-topping P300e, petrol options are all 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo mild-hybrids (MHEV) with a nine-speed auto and four-wheel-drive. Outputs are 200PS, 249PS and 300PS.

The new range-topping 300 Sport is exclusively powered by the 300PS petrol engine and is capable of 0-60mph in 6.6 seconds. It features a selection of the latest technologies for enhanced performance, as well as 20-inch five-spoke Diamond-turned with Black accent wheels, Black Exterior Pack and a powered tailgate.

The old E-Pace platform has been also been overhauled in favour of Jaguar Land Rover’s newer PTA platform. The carmaker says the new underpinnings benefit handling and ride, but the main purpose has been to allow for hybridisation.

Interior revisions include the Pivi Pro infotainment system, which is standard on every model with an 11.4-inch touchscreen. It’s 48 per cent bigger and three times brighter than the old screen, according to Jaguar.

The bumpers and grilles have been slightly updated, and there's new wing vents and LED headlights across the range. There are I-Pace-inspired LED rear lights, too.

Customers can choose from S, SE and HSE trim levels and all are available in R-Dynamic specification. Optional on all models is the Black Exterior Pack.

The full range is available to order now with prices starting at £32,575 for the new Jaguar E-Pace. That represents a £2000 increase on the previous-generation, less powerful entry-level diesel model. The P300 Sport petrol starts from £47,545 and the plug-in hybrid P300e is available from £45,995.
