I’ve been looking at a low mileage four year old car. When I type the reg no into KwikFit‘s site it’s telling me that it’s part of a fleet. In reality, how has this car been likely to have been used to date and what kind of life is it likely to have had?
MOT history is impeccable and ties back to the service records and claimed mileage history. All four tyres are the same make and condition is A1 both inside and out.... Read more
Looking to buy a small ish crossover/smallish SUV. Sort of Fabia estate/ C3 aircross/Arona etc. That sort of sized car. We do low mileage but need a decent boot, the car will replace an old Civic and a BIG subaru forester. So we have to compramize. Fabia estate...a bit bland, 308/corsa meh. C3 a gamble. We do 3000 miles a year, local 25 miles at a time...

Very happy with our Arona - it's a 1.5, but the 1.0 engine (I'd go for the 115ps) is supposed to be good. Feels roomy, decent boot, but only 4.14m long - a Focus is 4.38m.

In the past I have bought several cars from Motorpoint. Doing business was simple - you paid the price on the screen, and got a price for any trade in you could decide to accept or not.
Prices were always very competitive so haggling seemed largely unnecessary....
Advice please.
Purchased 2016 Qashqai Auto from a reputable dealer mid October 2023. One lady owner very low mileage 26,000 so high price £14,999 as autos quite rare.... Read more
Take the £12k and avoid Nissan CVT autos.
Looks like the Nissan auto not the most reliable....
Cubans had a ban on importing cars and so were obliged to run their old models for years. The streets are full of old American cars, with a lower supply of ice cars over here will our motorists adopt a similar approach and hang on to their vehicles for a very long time? Read more
If it becomes sunny and we all live off cigars and rum, I'm in.
Some sun...please!
Hi, where do find my Engine identifier code for a combo life 1.5 diesel 2023? I got the Engine number but i am trying to find the Engine identifier code to see what the engine is in the vehicle and have it when I need parts. Read more
This is a re-baged Citroen Berlingo / Peugeot Partner so it will be the DV5 engine, derivative varies depending on power and Euro compliance spec. Parts order will be just off the reg which suppliers cross reference to the VIN.
Evening.
Firstly, I apologise if this question has already been asked. Secondly, I know very little about cars, so I apologise if this question is a stupid one.... Read more
I am a member of the Touota club forum for years, I never saw a problem eith the 1.2 turbo units, the opposite owners rev about the reliability. I hd a an Auris 1.2 as a loan car from a dealer once, it felt less snappy than the Avensis 1.8 but only marginally.
Much obliged to me learned friend.

There was some discussion on these about 10 years ago (e.g.thread 73482). I assume they are now pretty standard items, and may be integrated with accident prevention systems on some cars. But considered in isolation, and compared purely with the conventional cable handbrake often operating on rear drum brakes, can the driver control the force with which the brake is applied, or does the ECU decide ? My Toyota Avensis T27s (have/had 2) both came with a tool that you can use via the boot floor to release
But if someone was blocking you in, who was too ignorant to RTFM, it don't help!
Asked if I could do a quick job last week and deliver a car.
I’m pretty sure it was the best car I’ve ever driven, and almost certainly the most expensive.
Superlatives run out when trying to describe the Rolls-Royce Spectre. Firstly, it’s electric. So existing levels of R-R refinement are turned up a notch or two. The ride quality has to be felt to be believed - the anti-roll bars disengage when travelling in a straight line, so any vertical movement of one wheel can’t influence its axle mate. As soon as the steering wheel is turned, it re-engages and corners in a remarkably spritely manner (stressing that I was driving like Miss Daisy’s driver).
I didn’t get chance to play with the infotainment much, but it’s a R-R version of BMW’s system.
The car starts at £330,000, but with options most will be at least £400,000.
Looking forward to doing the return trip in it in a couple of weeks. Read more

Doesn't the new owner want to keep it? ;-) If not, rather an expensive hire car or, for someone, trip? Still, you do get to enjoy it on the way back rather than some bland Eurobox hire care or whatever.
I shudder to think what it costs to insure, given it is an EV as well and must require one heck of a lot of batteries to give the car reasonable performance and range capabilities....
The vast majority of used cars under about 4 years old will be fleet cars - private owners buy few brand new cars and even then don't sell them on that quickly.
You need to examine the car closely for condition, particularly inside.
