My issue isn't really the reduced speed limit.

Saturday evening it was v quiet, just set cruise and sit there, mpg was excellent! However at other times the reduced capacity and subsequent queuing traffic must be costing UK PLC millions. I'm looking now and the current slow traffic queue is from junction 28 to junction 30, about 14 miles and then another 10 miles around East Midlands airport....

Curious about this junction here with the red traffic camera as you will see here on the left -

I can't see a red traffic camera in the image.

Maybe a sensor?...

Hi there. I bought a new Toyota Yaris Design in April 2024. Do you know if it is worth having it professionally ceramic coated? I was going to get it professionally polished once a year anyway. I don't know if it is worth the cost and how long it lasts for. Thanks. Read more

It seems many don't know that polish is an abrasive and wax a coating. I gave mine a good clean (you can clay-bar if you want), polish and wax some years ago and the water still beads, although it'd probaly benefit from doing the wheels again before Winter. The brake dust doesn't wash off as easily.

The hub nuts vary 30mm is a bit too big. Found that 1" 1/8" 12 point was an hammer on fit for removal and needed to be used to fit new one the old hub nut can be used as a tool to remove the old one and the old bearing shell can be used for pressing in the last few millimetres, any thing providing its larger will do for rest of way.

A kit for £30 is useful but you need to still improvise using old parts to do the job and could buy threaded bar nut washers but the saving would not be great and you could sell the kit when no longer needed. Not sure if you can reuse certain hub nut as some are not laminated and not destroyed on removal. They vary in size and a Borg and Beck laminated one was a slightly better fit on 30mm socket and was able to fit with standard 3g0mm socket but not a good fit as we used to have in the old days.... All a bit confusing. If you want quality, then go to a Ford main dealer. The prices will probably put you off , even if you actually get the parts for a car this old . Nappa are a re- boxing company. They buy In products from all over the world are put it in their own brand box .

65,970 - 64,723 call it 1250 miles in a year!

Doing that sort of mileage it's unlikely to wear out....

Hi,I'm looking for some advice on buying a used automatic diesel ( up to £9,000). My only two needs is the best MPG possible from an auto and that it meats euro 6 standards I'm open to size, make and year. I cover around 15, 000 miles annually avaraging 60 - 70 mph with a little in towns. I've read quite a lot online about PSA's bluehdi diesels, I see the Citroen C4 bluehdi returns great mpg, likewise the Peugeot 208 1.6 bluehdi. Also I've heard the Skoda Octavia and Renault Clio 1.5 return great mpg

What's the ultimate when it comes to MPG? ... Read more

<< And petrol costs less than diesel as well. >>

I reckon that the higher cost of diesel fuel (roughly) cancels out its slightly better consumption figures in today's cars, like for like. Doing 15,000 miles a year uses about 1150 litres @ 60mpg or 1360 litres @ 50mpg. At £1.50 a litre the difference is worth just over £300. Not insignificant, but pretty small in the whole cost of changing a car to get better fuel consumption....

My engine light came on last week after noticing some acceleration issues on a long drive. On the whole, the car still runs okay, but it limps sometimes and doesn't speed up as well.

I ran a diagnostic and was told I need to replace the turbo actuator/wastegate. On looking online, I can't find a definitive item I need to order as the details aren't always clear. ... Read more
