Hey all,
I have an electric car which is SORN with no MOT, and to tax it (which is £0) I need an MOT, hence I booked one and upon driving towards the garage, my range dropped significantly and I turned back home to recharge the car.... Read more
Anyone know of an inexpensive way to update the satnav in my Mondeo? Last figure I had from a dealership was around £80, which seems excessive.
Thanks. Read more
Does the radio have apple CarPlay or android auto ?
I recently got 2019 A6 and my insurance quotes have been $225+/month. Is that pretty normal? I haven't had any accidents or tickets in the last 7 years. I know insurance costs are rising but this is wild for a non-RS model Read more
I think Einstein could not figure out how insurance companies arrive at their figures, neither could the top 100 "most intelligent" people figure it either.
It is probably true that not many actuaries know much about the internal structure of the atom, or the concept of space-time ?
I bought my Dacia Duster in February 2021. Unfortunately it has just been written off due to the companies failure to provide a steering rack for the repair of the vehicle.
I understand there is a global parts problem which is the case with many different car companies. However for my car (which is under 3 years old) to be written off by an insurance company because it wasn't deemed financially viable because of a part which I could have sourced and was quoted £99 delivered does not sit right with me. I have complained to the insurance company (Admiral) their response was sorry and here's 50 quid. I have complained to Renault and I had an enlightening conversation in which he said there isn't anything they can do. I suggested being compensated by Dacia for the three months I was paying the finance agreement and unable to use the vehicle. Their response was less than forthcoming. I asked to speak to the manager and he refused. Unbelievable. I am quite frankly furious about the whole situation and I just wanted to ask advice about what to do next because it is unacceptable I have been left in this situation. Read more
My Skoda Roomster was written off after what sounds like similar damage. It was though a 2011 model and 8 years old. No finance to complicate the situation.
I touched the n/s barrier on an all lane running section of the M1 round Luton. Sc***ed every panel from stem to stern but that was deemed repariable. Only when the repairer insisted on checking steering stuff did the need for a rack come to light. The extra cost of it and fitting tipped it over the approx £3800 value of the car. ...

Injectors blocked after an overnight stand ? Don’t think so . Fuel pump failure, very likely.
I bought an ODB2 scanner for our Nissan Xtrail and it did exactly what we wanted. I was also told it would help with a friends Vauxhall Movano diesel van (2001) but when I took the panel off I'm pretty sure it is an ODB connector ( I dont know as Ive never seen one )
Is there a way of connecting my motorpower ODB2 scanner to an ODB1 connector ?... Read more
ah I see.. shame but thanks
2012 Megane Coupé 1.6dci with an intermittent EML. I’ve had it plugged into a Renault diagnostic laptop which is flagging up ‘secondary coolant heater’, but I’m not convinced it has one.
Has anyone got access to a wiring diagram for the car? The Haynes manual doesn’t cover this engine.

Yes, slightly frustrating that it’s driving exactly the same as it did previously, taking the same amount of time to warm up, but needed a £215 part to extinguish an amber light that would have prevented it getting an MOT.
I recently bought a Hyundai and was reading through my warranty a couple of days ago. It states I get one free health check a year whilst the car is under warranty. The dealership (a Hyundai dealership) I bought the car from sold me a customer care package which include 2 free health checks a year.
They clearly would have known this was not needed and therefore mis-sold. They have been a complete nightmare to deal with from the get go, adding tax twice for the car, not being knowledgeable regarding functions in the car, letting me drive away without dust caps on tyres and the salesman who sold me the car communication was awful.... I'm not a legal expert, but you may have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Start by contacting the dealership to address the issue, and if needed.

Hope im posting this in the right place, this morning on our way to work i approached a t junction to turn right and having a good distance before the next car (Taxi) approached me i began to merge, i pulled across the lane and into a box for the cars from the left to turn right as a driver coming from my left let us in i started to pull out, in the meantime the taxi had pulled across the front of the van and i then t boned him very very lightly! Gets stranger i obviosly stopped to get details and the taxi was sat stationary in the turning box facing the wrong way i pulled out the way and onto a side road and had to walk back down as the taxi driver was still sat in his car and would not get out or communicate at all, the police were called and turned up half quick and did the details exchange for us very very strange this and i havent had to deal with anything like this before. unsure who is to blame and unsure why he wouldnt give details untill the police were present. just to confirm i hit the taxi whilst the taxi was in a box for turning right but facing the wrong direction according to the arrow in the box!

I am reading from this that you approached the road from the junction, and therefore had a give way in front of you.
Anything beyond this is irrelevant, as traffic coming from any direction has right of way. I have come across this when going around parked cars on the wrong side of the road, cars coming from the junction have failed to look both ways, when they can clearly see only 1 side of the road is free and I have had to toot my horn to let them know I am there....
I wonder how many ANPR cameras actually work.
