Hi; just had front sensors fitted by Kia before taking delivery of car (only factory fitted to GT-Line S model) & just need to confirm / query how they are supposed to work. I have front sensors which beep loudly whenever the engine is started, touch to switch beeping / sensing off, then need touch again whenever front sensor is required. When switched back on they seems to beep all the time regardless if anything is near it or not, the beep frequency increases as car gets closer to an object - am going to take the car to an open space & retest. Has anyone else had these sensors fitted and does this operation seem normal. Many thanks Leon. Read more
Hi; looking for recommendations for a steering wheel lock (mainly as a deterrent) and the possibility of fitting a Ghost Immobiliser. Went to Halfords yesterday and nothing they had in fitted the steering wheel properly, they were either too large / sloppy or didn't actually fit - their only suggestion was to blindly order from website & hope it fits. also; has anyone fitted an additional immobiliser to the factory fitted standard version, if so, what did you fit & would you recommend it. Many thanks, Leon. Read more
Any metal canister should work. Tobacco tin if you know any smokers, or sweetie time
So, Booked a train ticket Colchester to Chester in advance to travel this week. Price was acceptable in advance for my theoretical journey.
But ended up 6.5 hours station to station. Ratty trains, deafening announcements, filthy toilets on trains and in stations, (vile coffee but that is possible anywhere) On return journey train delayed as no driver for the train supposed to take, so sent to other platform and then missed connection in London. Return journey should have taken 5 hours, took nearly 7..... Read more
Can someone explain why train journeys are so expensive?
It's the Ryanair approach....
At present I'm driving a mk 1 Kia Sorrento 2006 vintage but it's getting too long in the tooth, and the rust us starting to win. So in a month or so I'm thinking of getting a newer car. It's got to be petrol as I mainly do short journeys, have a large load area as sometimes I carry a big rotovator or camping equipment and my budget is about £6k to 7k

Nowhere to store the trailer I'm afraid. Plus the need to have space for family camping gear.

I had a similar issue. Hit by another car, totally their fault. They insurer - Churchill - was dragging their heels for weeks and my insurer didn't seem to be bothered either.
Local garage recommended a local law firm. Within the day I had a hire car dropped off to my door. (My own insurance didn't have any hire car in my policy)...
We have been trying to hire 2x 4x4 pick up trucks for the past week, absolutely nothing available!
It turnsout its due to -
European manufacturers making them in small pre-order batches due to the CO2 regulations with a strict limit on the amount available to order each year
Ford having a large recall on the Ranger rendering most of them out of use
Electric Ssangyong musso’s still not arrived in UK
Maxus T90EV 2023 orders still not arrived in UK

There is shortage of most cars now.
Those who ordered Toyota RAV4 in 2022 Q1 are still waiting. Toyota has stopped taking new RAV4 orders as per their website. Lexus says if anyone places order for NX now they can expect delivery in Q2 2024....
Always managed to avoid these autodestructing interference rubber-band engines before, so havn't looked at many cambelts, and don't know if this is expected, and/or indicative of impending failure.
Looks like "print through" of the cam sprocket teeth onto the back of the belt... Read more
I don't think I'd be putting any chemicals on a belt I'd be re-using.
I'm interested in the top of your pistons, the depressions make it look like you've a single, large inlet valve and a smaller, inclined exhaust. Any chance of a pic of the head showing the valves?...

I've looked online for a cold air induction kit for my Nissan Micra 160SR, but all the ones I've found were on Amazon and they say the product can't be used with airflow/ pressure sensors.
I'm not amazing at cars but I would like to try and fix a cone-shaped air filter to the intake tube so that it has a 'sportier' sound. I understand it won't make a huge difference in BHP improvements but I don't mind in that respect.... Read more
It may be a lot easier to just put a drop-in K&N filter in there
Wasn't there someone on here who had an insurance problem as they'd bought a car that had a K&N filter fitted they didn't know about. IIRC the insurers claimed it was an undeclared modification....

Well; they fixed the constant beeping, apparently the sensors weren't wired up correctly. I now have to get used to how they work; in some quick tests it looks like I need to switch them back on as they don't seem to wake up automatically after going into sleep mode, this is more or less what I was expecting from the start.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR HELP.
