The story is
I did a policy in good faith
We have evidence of 3yrs ncd I thought
I sent evidence of 3yrs ncd from my other car but they said it was not useab as already on a car ..they said they have to now cancel policy as they can’t amend the existing one
They are now saying I have to declare this but I already have arranged other insurance with nil ncd?
Will this cancelled policy be a black mark on me and will the new insurance company now cance their policy all because I’ve messed up, plus I’m the one that raised it
Please help me

Yes me to The great thing is the very fact they are not contactable, no valid address/email and phone means by British Law one does no have to pay the invoice. The first thing I was taught on Business set up course. So please do not pay them anything they will not take it any further. If they do just ask the court to refer to British business Law regarding invoices. There is a reason that we have these laws in place, they are to protect us against these scams. Equally, as explained on my business course, you have to word all invoices correctly if you raise an invoice. Name and invoice number/ address valid/ valid phone and now email. So don’t pay anything without this, nor send an invoice without!

My Vitara had her first service today at a massive 5200 miles! Excellent service as usual, car collected at 9 am and returned by 3, they even took the time to send a video explaining what they had done, not a lot in reality, oil and filter, top up the screen wash etc but I thought it a nice touch?
5 years ago I got a video from the Honda garage for the service they carried out.

These threads always seem to end up in the same place, going round and round in circles, generating a lot of noise but not much signal (old Navy term). Andy is entitled to his views, others are entitled to challenge them. I don't think people change their views based on what they read on a forum. The only certainty is tempers tend to get raised. Having separated this thread from the other (which I think is valuable), I don't see the value of this one as it's achieving nothing useful so probably best put to bed.
So i've been looking for a used car for a while and see that most cars are out of my price range. I'm shocked at the prices nowadays.
The car i own now is pretty old. Citroen C3 1.4. I bought it 11 years ago and it was 8 years old. I paid £3200 back then. Which i could just about afford. The car had low mileage of about 53, 000 and it was in great condition. I bought it because it suited my needs at the time and I bought almost straight away when I saw in on the forecourt. No long searches like now.... Read more
To the OP,
I share you frustration and so do many others regarding prices .
My good friend this week purchased a Cat N car which means it’s been in a crash but not structural damage (that would be a cat S car).
He got a Suzuki Celerio 18 plate with 36,000 miles and a service history including the copart report and photos of the cars damage so he could examine exactly where it had been repaired.
The car came with a fresh service and a brand new 12 month MoT all for the price of £3900 m which is considerably cheaper than the cheapest forecourt price for a similar aged and mileage of around £7,000.
He would never consider a car that had been in an accident and repaired but current car prices and his budget determined this to be the best option.
There are pitfalls, it will be worth less than a non recorded car when he sells it but he paid far less so no big deal.
You do have to be careful, any seller not wanting to disclose the post accident pictures should be avoided or spend £10 for a car check which normally will link you to the copart auction sales picture of the car in a damaged state.
A full test drive is a must, likewise make sure you know what your looking for and even consider spending £50 on having your local mechanic attend to give his thoughts,
Also you need to choose more simplistic cars that are easier to fix.
Why?
A simple Suzuki Celerio has cheap parts, plenty of bolt on parts and not many gizmos or gadgets to go wrong.
The more technology and higher the original price of the car, generally the more difficult they are to put right after an accident regardless if they are Cat N or Cat S.
I was watching a YouTube video today of a salvage mechanic who had purchased a fire damaged Audi A1 and was having to replace the wiring loom for the entire car which involved stripping out the entire interior! A huge undertaking,

Hello any automatic gearbox experts. Can someone please explain the connection between brakes and automatic gearboxes. I have a 6 speed Aisin box and I’m getting a jolt. It seems to me that if I have had my foot on the brake whilst say at a junction in D when I take my foot off the brake the car jolts forward. If I have only had my foot lightly on the brake all is ok so it seems related to how firm my foot has been on the brake. It also might do it if the car has been ticking over for a while and going from P to D. Otherwise all is ok. I have read that a faulty abs sensor can cause a jolt but mine seems related the the amount of pressure applied to the brake. So is there a connection between brake pressure and gearbox when stationary. Ta Read more
No the calliper/pistons are ok and changed the pads today.
that doesn`t mean the pistons- callipers are perfectly ok, pistons can stick in the bores if they are worn, other possible is flexi pipe internal rubber failing causing it to act like one way valve for a split second, just a thought ?

Thanks. No claim made. Literally less than a week old and I submitted insurance schedule from other insurance saying 3 yrs.. then the penny dropped and i realised it wasn’t applicable so I asked to amend policy to zero ncd. They said no and are cancelling from 18th. It’s not like they’re cancelling with immediate effect. So I’ve sorted new insurance with correct details from 18th. My concern is … is this cancellation a type that needs declaring to my new insurance company who in turn could cancel my new policy because I’ve had insurance cancelled by the first company
OH MY!! It’s so complicated sorry. I’m just really worried, but I’ve done nothing wrong intentionally and I’m the one that raised it.
Would the right thing to do be speak to my new insurance company and tell them the tale? Or just get over it and move on
