Hi, I'm looking for a manual gearbox to go in my sons 135i. I believe the boxes from any 3 litre petrol manual will fit. If anyone has one will they let me know. Thanks. Read more
About time for e-scooters. They're going to become an integral part of commuting life and will enhance green mobility for the general public. Trouble is, at the moment they're mostly ridden by people who can only be described as i****s who have no traffic sense or sense of self preservation. Read more
My son saw this on holiday and my wife took the picture ( which she has apologised for ! )
Is there anyway you can say what this model is from this very poor picture ?... Read more
Thanks a lot..
Our Auris has been slowly losing tyre pressure over the last week or so. Couldn't see the usual nail in the tyre so took it into the local tyre place who did the old fairy liquid over the valve test and sure enough it was blowing bubbles. They informed me that there is a tyre pressure sensor as part of the valve assembly and that I'd probably have to have the whole thing replaced, advising that I took it to the local Toyota dealers. They did to their credit say to bring it back if the Toyota dealership was asking for "silly money say about £45..." and he would clean the valve or see if he had something else that might fit. Needless to say it was a shock when Toyota quoted £88.00 + VAT for the part.
Also, it looks like the lithium batteries in these things only last for 5-10 years then the whole units have to be replaced which would be upwards of £400 in total. The thing is I don't even need tyre pressure sensors, I do a visual check before most journeys and have a pressure gauge which I use on all cars in the family regularly (as well as a 12v tyre inflater)... Massive credit to our local tyre specialist, Lochty Tyres just outside Perth. Managed to find a used unit they had kicking around and fitted it for the sum total of £15.00. Thanks guys!
For the last few weeks I've been scouring dealerships in search for a new car and I think I've settled on the Honda Civic. Nothing too fancy but a reliable vehicle to get me around. Everywhere I go, they keep trying to upsell me on "Honda Care". Supposedly it's a one-time fee you pay that guarantees replacement of any parts that malfunction unexpectedly. Sounds great in theory, but should I really have to pay an additional $2,500 on top of the vehicle price? I'm very skeptical with a ton of questions that I'll list here:
Is this worth the extra price? How long does it last? Can I find similar/cheaper warranties? Do most Honda owners get Honda Care? ... Read more
Thanks for the feedback. My mistake! Was just looking for any kind of advice
Hello..
I want to replace the turbo...can this all be done from the top or do you need a ramp to get studs from underneath?... Read more
Personally I prefer axle stands with a bottle jack. More compact both for storage and operation, (since you don't need room in front of the vehicle) plus I have a fear of driving off the end of ramps.
You can get folding stands though I've never had any.
I bought a Vauxhall combo van from an online site 6 weeks ago. Within a week the clutch went. The next week the starter motor went.
Two days ago I was driving when suddenly all of the dashboard dials died. Apart from that everything else seemed ok. After 15mins everything returned to normal. They then died a further time for 5mins.
Today I have tried to start the van. It cranks, starts and then after two seconds the engine stops and a click is heard. This happens over and over again. I haven’t managed to get it to start. Sometimes the van just cranks but doesn’t start.
Does anybody have any idea what this sounds like? Hope you can help me. Read more
Check the engine earth connection, as it might have been disturbed during the clutch change.
I am currently at a loss with my car. I have had nothing but issues with me car from date of purchase 14/10/2020. I have been back and forth since February 2021 after there was a product recall on my timing belt. They advised me there’s nothing wrong with the car and my timing belt is fit for purpose. The issue that started all off this was high consumption of oil. My car oil light was coming up every 1000 miles and after a dip stick test it was empty. The dealership (whom I bought the car from) advised me this is standard on this car. I failed to believe this but just held tight until august 2021 and my service September 2021 I told them again both times about my complaints. They cleaned the oil filters and flushed the engine and this seems to have helped up until February 2022. I called the call centre to have this resolved March 2022, they advised me that they would have my local dealership contact me to have the engine fully inspected. I waited 2 weeks until the inevitable happened and I broke down on a motor. My car went into limp mode With the engine warning light and service light red, At 70mph and I was lucky I was able to get off onto an exit. They advised me this was the timing belt, which was recalled a year prior and they stated it was fine. They fixed this and had Peugeot pay for the claim. 72 hours after they handed my car back, the same thing happened again limp mode on a motorway at 70 mph with both engine management light and service light in red. This was yesterday and they full inspected and fixed the fault ( there was 8 faults recorded by my breakdown company) they tried to deliver the car back to me today, the driver heard a grating noise from the engine and told me he wasn’t happy to give me the car back. At this point I requested to come with them and speak to the service manager at the garage. I drove the car back with them following me in their own car and after 3 engineers listened to the noise they advised me it’s something to do with the valves which would cost £1200 ish and it’s wear and tear and I need to pay. I’ve told them I was not paying for this, I have come back to them so many times about my engine and was pushed away every time as nothing wrong. They now advised me they’re going to request an engine replacement and claim through Peugeot but it could be 0% to 50% paid out so I would have to pay. I told them I can’t afford this and it’s not on. They said they don’t know if Peugeot will pay 100%. I told them what they don’t know is there other branch (where I picked the car up from when buying it) left the previous owners documents in the car with his name and address and other details on, this breaches GPDR. I told them I read his documents and the previous owner brought the car to themselves with complaints of loss of power similar to what I’ve experienced and that indicates to me this engine problem was going on long before I purchased the car. The previous owner had the car for 1 year before selling, I now know why. I don’t know what my rights are, I suffer with poor mental health and I’m a student I can’t afford £6000 if Peugeot won’t accept the claim or £3000 if they will only pay 50%

If you have docs from the previous owner showing the same faults that the dealer was aware of, then speak to trading standards on your area and or Citizens Advice
Its was so nice to read. one small suggestion from my side, when ever you plan to buy a used vehicle, do a complete vehicle checks from any of the history check providers to avoid being into scams

Hi all,
I have a small stone chip on my windscreen and I want to self-repair it (my insurance doesn't include windscreen cover). I watched the ChrisFix youtube video and he recommends a kit with a vacuum plunger to suck air out of the crack when it's being repaired. Halfords sell a Rain-X kit that has a pressure plunger (with no vaccum) that pushes epoxy into the crack (www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-and-body-repair/s...l).... Read more
So I fixed the windscreen chip! And it looks great. Definitely doable for a hobbyist-DIY'er (and quite satisfying as it feels like magic). To the person above who said "just pay someone to do it for you" I say "ha ha!" :)
I watched a whole bunch of windscreen chip repair videos and went with the RainX kit recommended in this one (www.youtube.com/watch?v=YK1kpSZpMPM). There was also a Permatex kit which is one-time use, costs about £22 which also looked good. ChrisFix has videos of using both and said he preferred the RainX kit overall hence my choice....
There’s a difference between physically fitting and having the correct gear ratios inside - that may not be the case.
