Hi all,

Looking to buy my next car with a car loan. I know the AA provide free breakdown cover with their loans, do any other companies offer additional benefits?

Best car loan "added benefit" (which did seem to be actually free) I have heard of (from someone in the trade) was as follows...

Geezer comes in with girl around close of business and surprises her by buying her a car. Girl is very exited and grateful, and they go off together for a very nice weekend. Nudge Nudge....

I realise this topic has been done to death, but I am once again seething with indignation.

I thought legislation had been put in place to prevent existing customers from being penalised at renewal time.... Read more

From what I’ve been reading BT and any associated companies such as PlusNet and deals signed with Talktalk will soon control the market by aggressive price cutting . Maybe because of their monopoly position on the infrastructure. Driving the competition into financial difficulties.
anyone else heard of this ?

Sounds like what (IMHO) the supermarkets have been doing for decades to rid themselves of local /regional smaller scale competition....

The plastic cover of door mirror was cracked whilst I was in a car park. All electrics etc work properly.

Is it possible to just replace plastic part ? If so, is it a job an amateur could do ? Read more

Good evening gents. I’ve bought a couple of salvage vehicles and I'm struggling to buy second hand parts to repair them. I’m looking for a website/company that gives OEM numbers from registration numbers or vin numbers.

I prefer something free or a low subscription based.... Read more

Thanks for the link to the fully charged video. I’ve loved the carver since I saw it on top gear back in the day. For me the fact that it’s basically a single seater would be fine. Unfortunately top speed and range is way too limited. I am really hoping that it improves a lot over the next few years. It just looks so much fun.

The Microlino is a great looking car. I do have a few concerns with it. Getting in and out of it might by challenging. Also i live in Scotland. Now as you will imagine it very rarely rains up here but the front opening door may create an issue on those rare days when it does rain!

Good day. I'm looking for an HGV Class 1 training provider in the UK. Although I've already found this HGV Class 1 training provider, I'm still looking for another good provider. Do you know any reliable company? Thank you in advance.

".that would have took 1 min now takes a half hour.."

Did you ever really drive somewhere that took 1 minute? No wonder the roads are congested.

Warning

I was just looking at a Nissan leaf, as a possible electric car. (Just picked an electric car at random).

Does the range reduce over time?. I noticed one for sale which is about 1/3 charged up, but has a range of 19 mile. So would I be right in thinking the full change when charge up would be around 60 miles?. The new range is is 124miles (24kw) model.... Read more

Yes it is. The Toyota proace city is identical to the PSA Berlingo,Rifter, etc and now the Vauxhall Combo and Life. The PSA Spacetourer and Traveller are the same vehicle as the Proace and Verso plus now the Vauxhall Vivaro. All share the same mechanical platform, engines etc. Ford's Tourneo 1.5 diesel is also the same engine!

Metropolis.

I used to recommend a variety of different car brands when asked, but nowadays its really quite boring as I find myself defaulting to Toyota, and simply finding the model in the Toyota range that matches their requirements. They are not usually best in class but it seems a safer bet so a recommendation doesnt come back to bite me.

Toyota, Mazda and Honda with some provisos. For example, avoid the diesels other than Honda’s 1.6 DTEC and avoid automated manuals like Toyotas MMT and I don’t recommend the latest gen Honda Civic or CRV 1.0/1.5 due to engine issues or ridiculously expensive timing belt costs. I typically stick to a limited range of genuine Japanese makes and models. Not Nissan for example.

I wonder if anyone can help, I hope this does not sound too complicated!

I bought a car from a friend and because I paid by instalments, instead of becoming the owner, the car was signed over to me as registered keeper - and after I finished paying we never got around to signing the car fully over to me. I now wish to get rid of the car, but he has subsequently moved, and I have lost contact with him.... Read more

DVLA have a record of the keeper, not the owner. Often the keeper and owner are the same person, but sometimes they are not.
