I remember back to 2005 when the Mk 1 Focus was being superseded by the Mk 2. My Mk 1 1.8 Zetec was coming up 7 years old and our local dealer was advertising deals on the outgoing ST 170 model so went along for a drive and see about a deal. Drive went well and despite it being the lowest powered Focus ST of all time (no turbo in this era) it was certainly no slouch. Problem was there were no 5 door versions anywhere in the country and all stock cars were laden with £1000,s of expensive extras like leather, xenon's, high grade sounds etc with little discount, left it at that.

With the desire to change still in mind borrowed a Civic Type R for the afternoon. 200 PS in that, still no turbo but it knocked the Focus into touch, brilliant car. Good deals available on stock cars but only 3 doors and the silly front "racing" seats made access into the rear difficult, left that one as well....

As in subject. The boot lid can be lifted easily but then slowly lowers.

I assume it's something to do with struts. Do things need replacing or can they be prepared ?... Read more

I've always been interested in electric cars and I'm actually considering buying one in the future. It's great to read reviews about different options, like the https://www.p***edconsumer.com/company/citade/customer-service.html citadel customer service when you think where is better to take a loan for buying car. It's important to gather all the information we can when making a big decision like purchasing a new car.

Forum 37 MPH ?
sammy1

How do you come up with a max speed of 37 MPH for your self driving car. Apparently it will be coming into law that you can read a book or watch TV in a self driving car. Experiment to go live on a single lane of a motorway. I hope the driver gets to finish the TV programme before something happens. Read more

I suppose the change from concept --> design --> test --> release to market has now changed to minimise the testing phase to make it safe but now outsourcing testing as 'beta testing' to the end user who now has to put up with poor useability ....

I don't believe there is an ideal 'happy medium' in the design of software - if there is, it must be somewhere between deliberately doing it in thought-out steps from simplicity to expanding capability, and rushing out something full of bugs in order to minimise cost. As has been memorably said, no-one knows exactly what they want till they've got one, at which point they begin to think of all kinds of improvements and new features. ...

I have had my fair share of warranty claims in the past and I have never come across this before - effectively, if the warranty is coming to the end of its life and you can't get the car in to the dealer on time (the dealer is fully booked) then tough - you're not covered. ... Read more

Thanks for explaining, learn something new every day :-)

I had a few warranty claims with the Renault (silly electrical gadgets) but the Focus has been faultless.

"Transport Minister Trudy Harrison said: “This is a major milestone in our safe introduction of self-driving vehicles, which will revolutionise the way we travel, making our future journeys greener, safer and more reliable".

SAFE ... SAFER? What is this woman talking about? By the time the accidents start happening she (like all politicians making specious statements) will be long gone and forgotten and therefore unaccountable.

Can’t think of any reason why it should be different in either direction. Have you tried it with the engine not running ? I would assume the trigger releases the lever from the park lock position .
