Peter Bowles, probably best known for his role in To The Manor Born, has died.

That series was very silly, unrealistic but very funny - comedy at its best then. Somewhere in the attic I have the full series on DVD, I must look them out over the weekend.... Read more

Warning

I came across a guy with a Mercedes, who somehow discovered it has been clocked.

In the first 3 years of ownerhsip, no one can relaly tell is a car has done 20,00 or 80,000miles.... Read more

Pointless doing a yearly 'mileage MOT' as those that clock them would, I imagine, time the clocking before the mileage check, just like they time it before services and normal MOT's.

I don't believe the mileage of any car unless I've had it from new, or know and trust the person who has.

The answer is to physically and technologically make it as hard as possible to tamper with the car's mileage, and make it illegal to do so.

Lease a Dacia jogger for £185 down, £185 a month.

It will cost you £2200 a year, be far more reliable and economical than any old knackered sub £2k banger you can find, nicer to drive and live with.

It’s a no brainier.

Hi All,

Slightly left field question, does anyone know of a way to find out your previous DVLA issued registration that would have been on retention?... Read more

RT

One way would be to put the private plate on retention then DVLA will reissue the original number (assuming it's still available) but that has a cost and probably isn't what you want to do.

Do Xenon headlights need to have their dipping function redirected from left to right for driving on the right in Europe (particularly France)? The headlights appear to be straight dripping. Read more

The misguided will still convert their classics for the environment, while some understandably do it for more reliability and a preferred driving experience. For those without the means there's always going to be an alternative.

Interested in thoughts from those in the know on the subject of buying an old car with low miles. Are there any potential pitfalls to this?

I'm thinking of buying a 2009 Citroen C3 with 8K on the clock. Would there be any case for getting a higher mileage car of the same age? Apologies if this is a silly question! Read more

I agree. I've always owned Pugs from 2001 - 2010 and never had a rust issue.
