Greetings,
I'm here because I've noticed that my Europa isn't gripping as well as it used to (mainly when turning corners). I believe the tread is low, but it does not appear bald.... Read more

Just seen Jane Mc'Donald on Ch 5. When 21 rented a car from CD Bramall for me and my bike mates to go down to London for the Custom bike Show. We'd gone down the year before but bad weather and my mate got a ticket for prov licence on the M1 so had to come back on the A1. Different road then in 1976. Anyhow i turned up to pick up the hire car and was disappointed to given the keys for a pale blue Viva HC from a Ford dealership. just like the one she's driving. I'd learned on Escorts but this was a much better car, back in 3.5 hours couldn't do that these day though. Read more
i had a brand new out of the factory one . think it was £700 with employees discount. nice car to be fair, better than a marina. probably less than an escort
Elderly neighbour's Peugeot 2003 failed to start, multimeter shows the battery has only 7 volts after standing on her drive unused for just one day.
This is the fourth time this has happened over the year she has had the car, the supplying garage has supposedly fitted a new battery and new fuse box, which has not cured the problem.... Read more
OP states the car belongs to an elderly person. Could they be doing something forgetfully perhaps?
Possible, but then I would expect "Economy mode" to quickly kick in when the battery is in danger and start to turn off things automatically. Lights left on when leaving the car is accompanied by a loud beeping to remind you they're still on....
Hi all.
My wife's 2016 Peugeot 2008 1.6 diesel has an annoyance when changing up through the gears. The car jolts or jerks when bringing the clutch up between gear changes. Only an exaggerated slowly bringing up the clutch pedal and slipping the clutch prevents it. It's worse in the lower gears but even changing third to fourth you can still feel it.... Read more
Looking at the boot with the steering on full lock the boot is getting pulled off the joint housing. The clips aren't man enough to hold it on.
That sounds as if the clip at the other end of the CV boot is stretching it too much to absorb the movement ?
Hit a big bump on a road subject to subsidence, bonnet unlatched and flew up, putting a big dent crease in the scuttle (? I mean the bit below the windscreen with a grille in it designed to trap dead leaves and cause corrosion) and bending the bonnet upwards from the hinges. Now requires considerable force to open because it fouls the scuttle, and it wont close properly.
Unlikely to be any in scrappies... Read more
Dunno. In fact I dunno what a safety catch is. The bonnet catch didnt, so I assume it wasn’t fully engaged.
its the lever that you move to pull the bonnet up with, it has a hook at the top to stop the bonnet from flying open....
To add to the ongoing debate over the merits (at the moment) of using pure petrol vs 10% ethanol in petrol or just concentrating on EV tech, Jason Fenske over at Engineering Expanined (YouTube) has produced a new video which refers to a new study that suggests biofuels aren't the 'greener' alternative to pure petrol, or at very best (i.e. ignoring the new findings and going on the old data) around 2% better over a near 30 year period.
From what the study looked into, I found it amazing how supposed 'experts' from the EPA etc did not take into account the huge and long-lasting effects of changing over land usage to grow corn to make biofuels. """
Apparently 30% of our wheat comes from the East so with this and the re-wilding initiatives it would appear we will need as much agricultural land as possible without growing crops to "burn". The price of bread is already up in the supermarkets
Hello all,
My van has failed MOT today and they quote me £1460 for repair, which seems steep after checking cost of parts online. As long as I could probably deal with break pads myself, I'm not attempting to fix suspension issues. Can anyone please advise on what's the average cost of these repairs (parts + labour) to pass MOT?
This is 2013 Citroen Relay L3H2

I'd say the price depends entirely on how much of that work they are proposing to do. With the list of defects I'd guess that van is severely unloved and not at at looked after.
My Vivaro was gradually losing power today, now struggling to get up hills with pedal almost flat to floor, noticed a couple of white smoke mornings a few weeks ago with smoke disappearing within 10 mins or so. I also had check Anti Pollution System filter flash up on screen, took to my usual garage and was checked and cleared from dashboard but today was the worst! Reading various reports I don't know whether it's the MAF filter, injectors, DPF or Turbo? Has anyone encountered this? If so would appreciate some tips or go to areas to help fix. My Taxi has 186k on the clock and has ALWAYS had a major service every 10k regardless and always maintained regularly. Any help please? Read more

Might also be the tracking is out? Might be worth phoning round to find out local prices for a wheel alignment check. Some places will do it for free, though they might be on the dearer side if it needs adjusting.
