Looking for your feedback. I’m torn between an A5 fastback S line trim or an Arteon R line spec with the 2.0 diesel. Around an 18 plate the dimensions look reasonably the same the Arteon is slightly cheaper. Anyone have experience of running Costs, servicing , residuals? Thanks Read more
The A5 doesn't use the MQB transverse-engine platform used by the Arteon and Superb - it uses the longitudinal-engine MLB/MLB Evo platform shared with the larger Audi's

...at a guesstimate of around a mere 120,000 miles at less than 14yrs old. Must have been either badly made, crashed, or.... very neglected ;-)
We have had AutoTr@der for years, but presumably partly because of Covid, we now have the likes of Cazoo, Cinch and Motorway persuading us that a nice used car can arrive in something like an Ocado van. How do the crystal ball-gazers think this may change the ball game for traditional franchise or non-franchise dealers? On the face of it they have the advantage of offering test drives, after-sales service, freebies such as carpet mats and touch-up, but do the new habits represent a real threat to them ? Read more
The price increase for used cars retailed anywhere between 32% and 36% in 2021, according to Cox Automotive, Edmunds, CarGurus, or Black Book.
The gen-2 car does apparently have active cooling, so at least on that score they've learned their lesson - the hard way. Still, you'd think that this sort of thing would've been picked up during R&D - I mean it's not as though lithium battery fires weren't unheard of beforehand, given the problems on that score with mobile phones and laptop computers......
This car has a torque convertor auto. It belongs to one of my daughters, although I have an almost identical one. It has begun to often need a touch of accelerator before it will move off on a flat road after she has started the engine and released the brake pedal.
