Hello all,
Hoping for some advice on my dilemma.... Read more
For driving offences, yes but not for SORNing a car, as per the DVLA. The Road Traffic act explicitly refers to a "road or other public place".
This was on the other evening, having seen the first episode I was unimpressed. It’s some sort of cops come bomb disposal thriller, with emotionally challenged characters who don’t seem to follow basic safety procedures. I had half an eye on it when management had the second episode playing but woke up when I saw the SOCO guy with a camera photographing the scene.
As a keen photographer I was interested to see the kit being used. The latest Nikon mirrorless with a ring flash? Err, no. I could have sworn it was a Zenit SLR that was being wielded. An Eastern European camera popular in the film era as a cheap entry into the hobby. Never a professional’s piece of kit and a complete antique in these digital days. Still it didn’t matter much as it looked like the cameraman was attempting to take close up images with a long telephoto lens. Possible but very unlikely. I was going to look at it again online to check, but lost the will to do so. Surely though TV and film makers know this stuff? Read more
I confess I didn't notice the camera. Never had a Zenit, my first SLR was a Praktica, East German rather than Russian. I use a Nikon D750 now,. The Praktica was OK but I don't think the police etc. would would want to wait for their pictures to come back from Boots.
We watched the first 2 episodes of Trigger Point. We didn't think it was very good either. Remember 'Danger UXB' with Anthony Andrews?
Hi
I seem to be having difficulty finding the correct gear knob and gaiter for my particular car, I have the ford focus mk2.5 facelift, its £100 with ford, you can find 1000s on ebay for £8-£20 but I cannot find the right one ive ordered a couple and they alwats come back too small, as I can only assume are for the MK2, has anyone else ran into this problem and/or have found a solution, id probably pay a bit more than £20 jut to get it sorted but £100 seems a bit steep. Ive found some old forum threads talking about it but because they are old te links to the gear knob dont work.... Read more

Hi,
I signed contracts and paid a £500 deposit with VW to order an iD4 on the 29/11/21, so in time for the £2.5k grant.... Read more
I’d be demanding the dealer stumped up here. They are at fault and a deal was agreed based on the grant available at the time which they should’ve applied for. If they refuse I’d bump it up the VW customer services. I’d go as far as walking away from the deal over £2,500, make this clear to them.
If you did walk away, the dealer would probably be quite happy, as the £2500 is probably a sizeable chunk of the profit they would have made on your sale, plus they now have a car available for immediate delivery to the next customer who walks through the door, paying the same profit over again.
If the grant is payable based on the first registration date then ask for a pre-reg at a discount.
Hi, I took my car in for a MOT today and it failed.
I was just wondering if anyone could provide me with a rough idea on the cost of repair for the following. Any advice or help would be appreciated and thank you for your time.... Read more
Parts: The rear bushes are circa £20 per side. The bulb £1. The bonnet catch probably £0.
Labour: No idea how long the bushes take. The bulb 10 minutes. The bonnet catch needs removing, thoroughly cleaning, greasing and refitted - 30 minutes perhaps....

Also, the company that I doing my intership for will organize a raffle for the responders. So you will have a chance to win a 100 euro Amazon gift voucher.
Thanks again for the help. And feel free to share this with your friends.

I always thought internships were in the workplace? Happy to be corrected.

Is this an economic repair ? . It’s possible the work could come to near the value of the car .
