February 2022
Hi all recently had my head gasket changed along with the timing belt so on. While driving the car home for the first time, I heard a lot pop like sound come from I believe the front driver side area of the car, and the malfunction engine light came on afterwards. Car lost most of its power when I drove home but the noise never happened again.
Any ideas what it could be ?

I kind of developed a technique years ago of being able to hill start using my right foot to operate both brake and accelerator and left foot operating clutch. It's because my Dad had a car with a hopeless handbrake that you could just about get working for the MOT but it soon faded (MKIV Ford Zodiac). Not generally recommended but for someone with wide size 13 feet it was easier to do!
Wouldn't work so well with most modern cars as if you start moving with footbrake slightly operating engine ECU's cut the power!...
Hello,
I had placed an order for a VW Tiguan in December 2021. I wanna know if it’s possible to change models, i.e. changing to a T-Roc or probably a Golf, without losing my £500 deposit with the same dealer. ... Read more
With the best will in the world, only one person can tell you that, and that’s the dealer holding your deposit.
I would check on lead times before committing to a change, as there are some awfully long waiting times currently for non-EV Volkswagens.

An Amazon delivery driver parked his van in my drive and he wasn't even delivering to me. I was about to leave for a hospital appointment. The van was open with the keys in the ignition! What I should have done was park it on the road and throw the keys away (a subsequent check showed it wasn't taxed, insured or MOT'd). What I did was lean on the horn button until the driver appeared - eventually! They had the temerity to moan at me!

That sounds a very plausible explanation for the unexpected chart-topper.
Sales of all-electric vehicles could reach 307,000 in 2022 - pity there are only public 29,000 chargers. Things are going to get interesting when you need to charge your vehicle, although the total number is 29K start deducting those that do not work, those that won't accept your card, those that may have been vandalised and going off some peoples experience on YouTube things could start to get a little frightening. Together with the increase in electric prices. Ionity prices at present are 69p a kWh (July 2020) may rise to around 89p+ a unit a 77kWh battery to charge will cost £68.53p. for a 250 mile range.
Home chargers should be considerably cheaper depending on the rate you can get off your supplier.
Also take into account that some public chargers limit your time to 40 minutes (before the excess charge kicks in to stop you hogging the charger) so if you are on an average charging rate of 50Kw your time limit will only give you 20 kWh increase to your battery, which if your car is averaging 3.5 miles per kWh that equals to only 70 miles.
I will be buying a EV but not till they have made vast improvements to the battery and the charging info structure.
Also on the horizon is the government trying to fill up the £35 billion hole caused by the removal of road tax on EV's which can only be filled by all drivers paying into the kitty one way or another, another con by the government (as in diesel gate). Read more
When I posted ""another use for your LH """ it got taken over by cycling rules.
Another equally important new rule is the advice to give way to pedestrians crossing at junctions. If you are turning left and a pedestrian is on the kerb waiting to cross you should give priority to the pedestrian and stop to let them cross.... Read more
I have not looked at the new highway code, Yet ! But if it follows the same rules as all previous highway code books then ...
