The radio on my Honda Prelude cuts out intermittently, I want to check if it's a connection issue.

I've tried to remove the radio but after I get the cover off one of the screws holding the radio assembly just spins leaving it trapped.... Read more

A friend has stopped driving. He has a 2004 S type Jaguar 3.0 manual.

54K miles and full service history. Independent servicing post warranty. Very good condition and looks good. Has not been driven for 6 months so he has now decided to sell it. Wants about £1.5K... Read more

Went to the official launch of the S type held near Maidenhead where we drove the cars round the country lanes.

Made the cardinal sin of referring them as S Class after which my life wasn’t worth living with the Jaguar boys....

Is it me, or does everyone get the extremely annoying pop up asking me to agree or not with something or other. Every time I switch subject or move around the site. Crazy.

It is the Privacy Policy that pops up every single time I change page or change area from motoring to legal to general etc or scroll down. It is so so annoying. If it persists I shall simply stop coming to the site. I have agreed once and that should do it.

Hi all. I have a Zafira 1.9 ctdi 150. I’ve noticed the temperature sits around 78c. I think this is too cold ?. Would that be a thermostat problem ? Or am I worrying about nothing ? It does occasionally get higher but goes straight back down . Thanks in advance ?? Read more

Yep , I’ve got heat after a few miles . I’d say it gets upto 78c after about 4 miles . It can drop to 74 or raise to 84 if I’m going uphill . You see I’m told 90 is about right which Is why I was worried as thermostats open between 84-88. Me being an over thinker was worried it wouldn’t do a regen and eventually block the dpf

My Ford car failed its MOT, due to emissions, so we changed the catalytic converter and replaced the sensor - the management light kept coming on prior to this and the mechanic said the code reading was for emissions.... so now after a service and having made the changes the management light is still coming on and the mechanic has cleared the codes again, saying the codes are referring to emissions,.... and I must book the car in AGAIN for further investigation. Surely I have done everything now to rectify the issue of the engine management light coming on.... what else can this be....? Read more

You started from the wrong place - blame your mechanic, a code reading "for emissions" is too vague - it needed a full diagnostic to determine the exact cause of the EML being on - you need to start from there as there could be many other faults besides car and sensor.

So, we placed an order for a new MG HS back in early Nov. We were told it would be delivered in March and a trade in price was agreed for our Auris. We got the expected call on Friday from the dealer to say that our car will now not be arriving until "late May/early June". Fair enough, seems to be pretty common these days for various reasons. However the dealer was non-commital when I asked him about the agreed trade-in price "err, we'll need to look at that" or something similar.

My question is can the dealer renegotiate or indeed change the agreed trade in price which we have in writing on the documentation we have, given that they are the ones who can't keep their part of the deal?... Read more

The old, underpowered, microprocessors is the main reason the automotive industry is in the state that it’s in.
When we locked down in early 2020, there was a huge uptake in laptops, games consoles and IT that people would use whilst working from home and not being able to socialise.
Chip production was switched from automotive to consumer goods, which inevitably used more up to date components, with a greater profit margin.
And guess what? Those manufacturers now don’t want to go back to making low tech, low margin, microprocessors for cars.
The ‘just in time’ model didn’t foresee a global pandemic.

<< I take pride in having my vehicles maintained at a high standard - higher than just passing the MoT test - you may not but some others do as well. >>

And you are welcome to. But, assuming the MoT tester has been thorough and correct, any 'advisories' are simply advice which the keeper can act upon if he decides that will be needed before the next test....

A warning about deleted in London, and Mahindra Electric in India. I bought a G-Wiz mfg by Mahindra, through deleted in London. they have left me stranded in West Cork, Ireland with no one within driving range to service my car's electrics. After 2 months badgering they recommended a kid near Dublin who is not a qualified mechanic and charged €430 to replace one battery, a two-hour job that took 2 days including travel time. deleted is refusing to do anything further, and Mahindra has so far refused to deal with the situation, after two letters, two emails and two facebook messages. "BERLIN/LISBON, Feb 18 (Reuters) – A ship carrying around 4,000 vehicles, including Porsches, Audis and Bentleys, that caught fire near the coast of the Azores will be towed to another European country or the Bahamas, the captain of the nearest port told Reuters on Friday.

There is a line of thought that the Malaysian aircraft that crashed and has yet to be found was carrying a cargo of these batteries too,.

It would be interesting to know how that caused the huge change in flight direction ?
