As well as the offending engine mount, make sure a full cam belt kit is being fitted - There is a real danger that it will have been damaged.
Have a sudden fault with the car, Espace IV (JK) 2.0 dCi (JK03, JK04). The alarm keeps going off shortly after the lights flash and horn sounds when locking.
I also noticed that when the front nearside door or the rear offside door is opened neither courtesy light turns on. I also notice that there is no "click" and the dash coming to life when they are opened. Also, the dash information screen does not show either door as open. The temperature adjustments work and so do the electric windows. ALL the other doors are fine. All the doors lock OK and all the doors and boot open OK.
It is as if the two doors are not recognised by the car anymore.
Note if the alarm goes off then when I unlock/open the car, the car beeps 4 times.
Can anyone advise what is wrong and or what to check and how PLEASE! Read more
Thank you. Will try that.

Brother has an 03 avensis. The bottom of the tailgate has started to catch on/scrape the bumper when opening and closing. He thinks its because the struts are worn, but I'm not so sure - I think it might be because the hinges have loosened/dropped. I can't see how weak sruts would affect closing position. Any thoughts, please? (Also, I think hinges use torx/star bolts - is this correct?)
Thanks very much. Read more
"If the struts were unable to support the open tailgate, that would have been all you needed to know. I have changed a few struts - admittedly on smallish cars - and it's quite simple while the tailgate is supported."
You're right, of course. I'll know should there be a next time (a decreasing chance). I'm reminded of the old saying (can't remember who said it, so can't attribute it) 'Too soon we get old, too late we get smart'. ...
Hello, I have a 2007 fiesta zetec s 1.6 petrol.
My gears feel notchy and stiff especially when the engine is cold. The gears feel stiff even with the engine off sometimes. If I hold the clutch down and put it into a gear it feels notchy but when I take it out of the gear and back into the gear again with the clutch still down it goes in a lot smoother. I have changed the gearbox oil using castrol 75w90 which is recommended in the manual.... Read more
Yeah I might give that a go. How would I go about lubricating the cables if they are sticking?
Hi, I was just wondering if category X cars are recorded or listed on HPI please? I have the chance to buy a car off my insurance company but wanted to make sure it wont affect the value. I don't know if they can remove markers or not or even if they can remove the Cat X or if it isn't listed as such. A lot of auction sites seem to say that it is not recorded so just wanted to check if anyone knows...Thanks. Read more
A few month ago I drove to the paper shop ,when I came out the car wouldn't start, all the lights came on yet nothing on the last bit of the turn, no noise , nothing.. I'd replaced the battery a few month before so I knew it wasn't that. I rang a friend and he said it's sounds like the starter motor. I turned the key again and it started so I took it to a local garage, he asked me to bring the spare key as he wanted to try a different key. He had it a week and started it 30/40 times and it started every time and didn't display any error codes, he said it really did sound like a starter motor, but as it was starting for him he wouldn't recommend changing it. He'd checking all earthing connections as sometimes a bad earth can cause issues. I insisted he changed it as I didn't want to get stuck again, and it was only £110 for all the labour and parts... It's been fine for 4 weeks until yesterday , it did the same at some traffic lights after I stalled it. Then wouldn't start for 3 minutes,. I rang the garage and he said bring it in ,and he'll have a look at it, but if it's not doing it for him and there's no error codes he's at a loss.
Has anyone else had this issue? Read more
Thanks for the reply, it's sounding more like an issue are key switch area isn't it, thanks for the reply.
Hi guys, I am after a bit of advice if this is the right place?
Had an accident, chap made an illegal U-turn in front of me that resulted in me crashing into him and come of the bike (the bike still has outstanding finance).
Now I've informed my insurance (lexham) and fill in all statement info inc pictures. They provided me with a replacement bike, matched CC`s but it's one old (`15) nasty dirty (not washed) bike with engine oil looking like milk, and even found some cracks in the fairing. They told me that excess will be 600 quid in case of any damage to it.
They passed me onto the personal injury team that phoned me, and after like a minute brief conversation they told me that injuries will become less painful or others will arise after about a week post-accident and told me they will be in touch.
Since then, the third party insurance has contacted me, was very nice on the phone, admitted full fault of their client, and offered me to take care of everything including hire vehicle with 50 quid for excess and with a plethora of to chose from.
about a week before the accident I've received a renewal letter from my insurance, and about 4 days after the accident ive received another one that already went over 200 quid up.
I know generally, the third-party insurers want just quickly sort the thing out and be done with it, possibly save some money, but they seemed quite a bit nicer on the phone (it's one of the big ones' Direct Line).
so;
1. should i continue with my insurer even they seem quick to increase my renewal and sorted me with the worst replacement ever?
2. if the third party took full responsibility, dealing with my insurer should mean that I'm claiming from a third party and not my insurance, correct ?(even im letting my insurer deal with it)
3. if so in number 2, technically I should not be losing any no-claims as I am not claiming from them, and my premium shouldn't be going up? (technically because we all know the premiums will go up eventually and my no claims wasn't protected)
4. I can go with another injury lawyer and let a third party take care of the bike?
5. since the bike is on finance, I am pretty positive if I request the BMW to assess it - they will say hell no, we don't want that back even after pro repair (i may be wrong here, but I don't think it will be financially viable to fix it), so how would that get sorted? would the third party pay rest of the finance on the bike + some to me to the value of the bike pre-accident?
6. anything else anyone can suggest i should do?
apologies for the lengthy post, It is very confusing. Maybe there is a special forum for those things I should be posting on but as a new registrant on Moneysupermarket I cannot post and ask anything yet.
thanks joe Read more
If the accident is recorded and unresolved, then I think all insurance quotes will be higher until its resolved.
Correct. Back before the days of protected no claims I had an accident (not my fault - hit head on by driver on my side of the road) about mid February. My insurers (Coop) had my car repaired but I had to pay the excess....

Seen a VW T25 pickup today (single cab). Can't say for certain it was a working vehicle as there wasn't anything in the back, but it wasn't 'pampered'. While it wasn't (as far as I could tell) rusty, its paintwork was a bit flat. Hardly ever see them these days.
Honestly, I'd love one for my work!.

Yes thanks, a little lift off works well but trickier to time than a straight up manual.
Either that, or just accelerate reeeeally slowly (:
