Hi, Ive recently had the engine management light pop on my petrol car. The obd code is linked to a pre cat oxygen sensor. Before replace that I was told get some vpower petrol in and drive on the motorway aiming for high revs.
Is this true, would seperate additives help... Read more
At the last service the dealer put rather a lot of some sort of brown grease on the door check straps. I was a bit careless while cleaning the interior the other day and managed to transfer some of it onto the plastic part of the door card.
What's the best and safest way to clean it off? Read more
After writing that, I wondered whether anyone would comment...
Would appreciate any advice or experience that anyone could share please. Have come across opportunity to buy a very well spec’d car from a reputable independent dealer. Story is that Porsche cancelled pending sales of diesel Panamera during the emissions scandal and that some cars stayed at the factory, unused. They were then registered in Germany, but not sold, in December 2019.
Dealer has bought in a few of these cars, now on a Uk ‘69 plate and with delivery mileage only. Cars are effectively new, although actually 3 years old and a model no longer produced. On the face of it it’s an opportunity to buy a top spec car at a massive discount, but I’m also conscious that it’s difficult to understand what the actual value of the car is - compared with a normal used car, with very low mileage. Cars are absolutely UK standard in every way and I have access to the Porsche online configuration code for the car.... Read more
Thanks everyone for your thoughts - lots of valid points to consider. I have to admit that I’m struggling to make my mind up! The key thing for me I think is to compare the price I pay with what I could achieve on a conventional 3yr old car with low miles. As Manatee says, once I’ve started driving it and put a few miles on, that’s exactly what it will be!
The alternative would be to be patient and hang on to see what comes up in the Porsche network over the next couple of months as things (hopefully) open up a bit more. There’s not much there that ticks my boxes at the moment, but I should perhaps just try to chill out and be patient!
Having spent my entire working life dealing with other people's money, I do not bank on line because of the increased vulnerability to fraud. I have not given the bank my email address, so I know that any email purporting to be from the bank must be fraudulent.
I did once receive a bogus email about an alleged missed VED payment. What the lowlife scammer did not know is that I pay for my VED annually in full. Read more
Not using online banking is not an option for all (say if you have a Spanish or French account) but one thing you can do is purchase your own domain (as low as £25/yr) and then create banking specific email addresses that you use with each institution and *only* that institution.
Isn't it strange how they can suddenly reduce prices! Read more
EXACTLY my thought... They were obviously pricing it to basically remove the effect of the Government Grant,,,, or another way of putting might be ... stealing from the government (i.e. the taxpayer, the car buyer) i.e. me and you...... maybe we buyers should think about that next time we go past a Citroen/Vauxhall dealer!!!
That's still much more money than I care to spend on a car; especially one that needs a flatbed truck to rescue it for even simple things like changing a wheel (you can't jack them up yourself). Read more
dont understand why they dont just fit runflat tyres
Whoops! Jeep Wrangler Engine Explodes After Owner Tows Vehicle In Gear And Revs It To 50,000 RPM

I’m just imagining a blissful driver of a massive coach sized RV in his lazy boy chair, cruise control on, TV somewhere near the windscreen just for the driver and air con set just so, massively powered v8 or v10 petrol or diesel engine humming away in the background as it lopes serenely through the Florida panhandle. Meanwhile, the little jeep strapped up behind is revving its nuts off probably showering the cars behind in debris, dont know why but that image just makes me LOL!
