Hi, wonder if anyone can help please?

My corsa is having starting problems when it's cold, it will fire up but struggle to maintain idle and sometimes stall and you can hear the engine really struggling. The engine light was on with code P00B6. I have replaced the coolant temperature sensor on the radiator and cleared the code. I have replaced the battery and spark plugs also and the problem persists. Also i don't know if it's a seperate problem but i have accessed the hidden temp screen and the car temperature won't climb above around 55°c even after replacing the sensor. So i am now thinking thermostat although this was replaced around 12 months ago unless it's failed again? Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you. Read more

just got the sensor for thermostat housing - it is identical to the radiator thermostat

Your links show two different part numbers, apart from a two quid price difference. I suspect that although they look the same, they may well have different applications.

So reading the attachment doc has supplied.... changing your fuel to Super 98 will have no effect but changing your oil might. From a manufacturer of oils. H'mm.

There was a problem with low-speed preignition on the early GM 1.4T engines, which was addressed by upgrading the Vauxhall / GM recommended oil spec to 'Dexos1.'...

We have had the Seat Mii for a couple of weeks now, and yes we are impressed, it delivers the range it states, it’s smooth, comfortable and well equipped. But, the dealer and Seat really used the Connect App as a selling point, but the features like remotely controlling the charge of your vehicle and setting the heating are not available in the UK yet. This is poor, as it means having to go out at midnight to get the best rate for your charging and not enjoying the features it claims to have. The problem is that the SIM card in the UK versions are not online with no ETA from the manufacturer.

This is poor, it’s like selling a car with air con only to then say you may have it working some time in the future and then to add insult, I was contacted by them to buy a service plan which I tried to purchase this morning on the link they provided, only to find that it’s not available to electric cars.

Seat need to get a grip on this, electric vehicles are expensive so not having a good knowledge of products and selling cars without their full functionality is something that should be reported. Knowing what I know now I may have decided to purchase a rival vehicle.

Anyone else with the same problem?

Cheers

Hey Rick, couple of Q's just got mine, so drive mii app all running thumbs up! (Was showing 48miles range when doing this)

However where are you finding the set home charger location ? Also set departure time? I've only got in the battery manager settings charging power and climate temp ....

Hi guys, My 07 plate golf is been running really bad for last few months. It has massive loss of power and the revs doesn’t go over 2500-3000 RPM(feels like something’s blocked). It’s also always making very loud noise and vibrating pretty bad. Had a scan done few weeks ago and the fault codes came up was P2004 intake manifold stuck open (bank1) and P000A camshaft position “A” timing; slow response (Bank1). So I took the it to the mechanics and had the intake manifold changed. But the car is still the same and they told me I need to change my cat as well because it’s clogged/blocked. I was curious because the scan never said anything about the cat so had another scan after getting the car from them and this time it came up with P2006 Intake manifold runner control stuck closed (bank 1). Before it was stuck open and now it’s stuck closed. Any suggestions what should I do it with it next?? Thank you. Read more

I wonder how often the unsuspecting motorist is fleeced for an incorrect diagnosis and subsequent useless treatment?

Dunno, probably pretty often, but I'd think the unsuspecting motorist often gets fleeced for a correct diagnosis and useful treatment too, because the system is set up that way....

Hello, I am looking for a second small car such as the Vw Polo preferably models after 2015. Does anyone have any suggestions what are the most reliable small cars out there, I've heard good things about Japanese cars but just wanted to see what people thought. Read more

If you're considering VW polo, I'd take a look at the skoda fabia.

Skoda are part of the VW family and the cars are put together in Czech - they know what the're doing. Better option than the Seat equivalant. Also [part of the VW umbrella. Skoda trumps Seat imo.

Looking to buy a used van, and I've seen one with 280K on the clock, but readout is given in KMs not miles, even though it is a UK registered van, why is that? It is a 6.5T vehicle. Just wondering is it possible to fiddle the mileage as heavy goods vehicles mileage aren't recorded at MOTS so cannot verify that way.

Thank you. Read more

There has been times in previous threads where I have remarked how much of a shame it is that Mazda, once the purveyors of the most powerful hot hatch you could buy (the 3 MPS with 256bhp), no longer offer anything more than a ‘warm’ hatch, the 180PS version of the current 3.

But browsing on YouTube earlier, I came upon a video clip with 2021 Mazda 3 turbo in the title. Sadly this is not coming to the UK, in fact I’m not sure it will be available anywhere other than the USA. Sadly (from my point of view), because it seems to offer pretty much exactly what I’d like from a (useable) hot hatch. 250bhp (from a 2.5 four cylinder) is slightly less than the old MPS, but it is still more than sufficient. Of more interest to me is the 320lb/ft (the MPS offered up 280lb/ft, and for a current comparison, the 315bhp Civic Type R musters 295lb/ft). which is delivered to the road via a torque converter auto and four wheel drive, bliss!. ... Anyway, I think we all know there’s a range extender on its way.

The range extender approach seems sensible until the availability (and speed) of recharge points is massively improved.

I recently watched an episode of the TV series about very expensive EV conversions of classic cars. A member of the team took one of their cars to Germany to fetch an urgent part for a customer's car. I think his full charge range was about 250 miles but he still made frequent mention of the stress and need for meticulous pre-planning of stops when using an EV for a long journey. For example, he said that to optimise charging speed versus range he should have kept the battery between 20% and 80%, making it even more complicated to plan the fastest journey. In this case he messed up by stopping too soon because he was hungry!
