Looking at purchasing a Kia Rio as a second car. Found a car I like and made initial enquiries with the dealer. What are people's opinion on Kia Rio Read more
Would be great to get some advice....
We bought a second hand car from a dealership a couple of years ago.
7 months after purchase the car developed an engine fault and had to be repaired which was done by a dealership. 5 months later another engine fault and this time we were told that the repair was incorrectly done so we took it back and had it repaired again. 9 months after this we have an engine fault again this time it could cost us thousands to correct. It’s now 2 years since we purchased the car and I’m wondering if anyone could advise me where we stand legally. The car has had a history of engine faults now. Does the dealership hold any responsibility?
Any advice would be ace!
Thank you Read more
Is it a petrol or diesel engine? Mazda's petrol engines are very good and reliable, on the whole.
However, the diesels have a terrible reliability record. What exactly are the faults that the dealers have been supposedly repairing?

Gonna need to change my car in the next few months. Currently drive a Toyota Yaris which is ok but it’s starting to get uncomfortable and giving me knee pain... Being 6ft4 doesn’t help but it’s my wife’s old car as I bought a new estate last year for her and our two boys; so this is the cheap runaround... We’ve had it 5 years and it’s never been a problem and cheap to run also....
I only use it for the work commute that only 15 miles of 30/40mph zones and occasional stop start traffic... but I am in the car for an hour each morning and night so bring comfortable is a big thing..
Before you go and say how about this BMW or this Mercedes Benz.... I can’t afford anything like that as I already have a big car to pay for so don’t want something that’ll drain my money away....
Here’s my specs:
I am 6ft4 (with a 34” inside leg)
£13k max
Petrol (only cover 7-8k miles per year)
Newish car (3 years max)
Reliable
No bigger than 4.25m(space on drive)
It will only be serviced at a manufacturers service centre....

How much of the knee pain is down to the stop start driving as much as the car itself?
A smallish automatic may actually be as comfortable as a larger car. That would avoid probably a few hundred clutch movements and gear changes every day....
Twitter on fire tonight as a German auto magazine is reporting that Nissan is set to announce the closure of the Sunderland plant?
FWIW, I import from Germany (for the past 26 years) and I've found out today that the minimum charge I will face to make an import from 1st Jan is £55 per shipment, (I will have to make import declarations by law, whether there is any additional duty to pay or not). This is whether the package contains a €50 part or a €10,000 part, how wonderful! Read more
Keep looking for advantages to not being in the EU, you will not find any as there are none.
I think quite a few advantages were imagined or dreamt about, but hardly anyone stopped to think how they might be achieved in the real world.

What experience? You didn't read the blog did you?
No, I didn't - who are they and what experience do they have?
Yesterday, whilst legally parked for about 15 minutes in an open air shopping centre car park, my front wing got damaged by what is obviously another car scraping it. It would have been extremely unlikely that the other driver was oblivious to this, judging from the extent of the damage. They didn't stop nor leave a note with their details. I reckon the repair cost will be around £1,000. I will enquire with the retail park management whether they have any CCTV that would identify the registration number. I'm not hopeful, but if there is clear evidence and a clear reg. no. then is this a criminal offence that I should ask the Police to prosecute (not stopping after an accident....). If they did prosecute, would the small matter of my repair cost be recovered? Or would I have to pursue the keeper of the car for recompense whether or not the Police brought a criminal prosecution? If the Police did not pursue a criminal prosecution, then am I able to ask them to identify the keeper? Read more
Many thanks everyone for your responses. I'm still chasing Savills for possible CCTV coverage, they won't be able to let me know for another few days.
