The day has come.
DMF, probably clutch as well and something going noisily wrong within the RHS wheel bearings (as I understand it). I have a friendly local independant who gave the heads up when it was in for a small job. Oh the electrics are starting to go as well.... Read more
Hi all, Hope everyones doing well.
I am planning on purchasing a Mercedes E Class 2016 Saloon SE. The SE that I have found is a really nice spec with Pan roof and the single 12.3 inch screen for a reasonable price. However the only thing that is concerning me is the fact that the exterior body of the SE is less aggressive/sportier compared to the AMG Line. Other than the front lower bumper being different and different alloys, are there any other exterior difference?
Thanks all. Look forward to the replies. Ash. Read more
AMG line will have specific front/rear bumpers and side skirts and also sit slightly lower.
Wife's friend has a dilemma. A tile fell from her roof landing on a neighbours Audi, did damage to the roof of the car and continued it's descent making a mess of a door. The neighbour dosen't want to involve the insurance for fear of more expensive premiums etc. She thinks this be an act of God so legally she is not liable but even so the moral aspect is there. Will her house insurance settle the bill...unlikely I think...bit of a kettle of fish. Read more
The insurers' database/algorithm/robot thing is truly evil. Strange that no information has ever been forthcoming about how all these mysterious calculations are made to ascertain that driver "X" is more accident-prone than driver "Y" in situation "Z".
Has anyone had experience of an asteroid crashing to Earth, writing off a locked, alarmed, garaged car in the process? It wouldn't surprise me to find an insurance hike afterwards. Having said that, a friend of mine and a friend of his from school were once in their road having high jinks with a surplus Dalek that the friend had won in a BBC competition, when a neighbour came round the corner and swerved to take evasive action and crashed into a lamppost. Cries of "RECALCULATE! RECALCULATE!" from the insurance assessor duly followed...
Question is, how likely is a new, original Dua Zafira B 1.7 CDTI l Mass Flywheel to be faulty?

Update to this. Mobile mechanic got back in touch with all kinds of excuses for lack of contact and wanted to come and sort it out. He intends to bill parts company so I apparently have only time to lose. I was going to go with local garage instead but other half thought we should let him try to sort it out.
So he's come and fitted brand new, double-the-price flywheel from different seller (still Valeo but not GM branded). At first clutch depress, the rattle was back :-( Fist he started saying something other than the flywheel was wrong. Then he sat in the drivers seat and operated the driving controls a bit and the rattle went. He said something along the lines of "Ah, I know - the clutch just needed to get aligned, should be fine now"....
As per title really.

Try Ross at Burcham car sourcing. Look at his 100% trust pilot page - he is excellent and the fee you pay is very light for what you get.
Both brake lights work fine during the day when the lights are not in use but when the lights are on the left hand side brake light does not work.

Hi guys, My 07 plate golf is been running really bad for last few months. It has massive loss of power and the revs doesn’t go over 2500-3000 RPM(feels like something’s blocked). It’s also always making very loud noise and vibrating pretty bad. Had a scan done few weeks ago and the fault codes came up was P2004 intake manifold stuck open (bank1) and P000A camshaft position “A” timing; slow response (Bank1). So I took the it to the mechanics and had the intake manifold changed. But the car is still the same and they told me I need to change my cat as well because it’s clogged/blocked. I was curious because the scan never said anything about the cat so had another scan after getting the car from them and this time it came up with P2006 Intake manifold runner control stuck closed (bank 1). Before it was stuck open and now it’s stuck closed. Any suggestions what should I do it with it next?? Thank you. Read more

Dunno, probably pretty often, but I'd think the unsuspecting motorist often gets fleeced for a correct diagnosis and useful treatment too, because the system is set up that way....
E Power sounds very interesting.
Will lack of certainty over the future of Hybrids lumber this version was a slightly re-mapped automotive engine, or will it carry a novel "Static Engine" optimised for economy and low emissions at fixed revs ?
Maybe not a reciprocating engine at all ? Read more
Already out of date. Sorry Nissan its not the general public it's the stupid Government.
I am trying to expand my removals business as cheaply as I can. I looked at getting a large box trailer, 14ft long, and towing it with a 3.5T luton van. The combined weight of van + trailer would of course be much greater than 3.5T. So I read from the Gov.uk website that I need an operators licence just to tow this trailer, not only that but need to upgrade my licence, that;s not so bad, but to have an operators licence you need an operators centre of operations!
No wonder so many drive inadequate luton vans! These vans only take 1 tonne max, they are rubbish. Read more
I think you will find the answer in these pages
That was the previous, 200PS, FWD Yaris GRMN.

If you can find one, a Mondeo IV estate would be good. They are huge inside, and both the petrols and diesels are robust. If you've had Vauxhalls before then one of the previous generation Insignia estates (petrol) would be a great load-lugger too.
