In June 2019 I bought a second hand, 2016 plate, Peugeot 308 SW estate 1.2L Puretech from British Car Auctions at Frimley. The car was previously owned by Motability from whom I have had some very good reliable cars from in the past and it had just 24000 miles on the clock.
It is a lovely car, seemed well looked after, properly maintained, goes really well and I fell in love it very quickly. However, 2 weeks after I purchased it, I had a problem with it.... Read more

Hi, I’m considering purchasing a used MK 7 Golf GTD and, being a regular member of the public and in no way mechanically minded, to date have gone down the conventional thinking route and only considered ones a la ‘one previous private owner, low mileage’ etc.. If I was more knowledgeable about cars I’d consider getting a higher mileage example provided it had been looked after - can anyone advise please that if I was to get a higher mileage one, what mileage range should I consider where it was likely to have had its major work done such as cam belt change etc.. Please note I’d happily consider an automatic so what extra costs (and at what time of the car’s life) need I consider please? Obviously I’d check this with the seller , but seek this information so that I can narrow my search.
Nb, is the driving position in the Mk7 GTD the same as that in my current Mk7 Golf SE please? I presume so but just thought I’d ask. Thank you Read more
However I'd much prefer you didn't accuse me of - trying to make out there is some sort of unjustified smear campaign ... etc ...
I don't recall "making out" anything of the sort, so you might want to consider retracting that.

Hi, following the theft of my catalytic converter and what seems like the inevitability that it could happen again, I looking to replace my Toyota Auris hybrid with a used petrol Honda Civic ((2015 or possibly a bit later model).
However, can anyone confirm if the Honda Civic catalytic converter is located in the engine bay, which I believe is now the case for the Jazz and Accord, or is it just as easy to steal as the Auris? ... Read more
Thank you. Have since checked with the service department of a main dealer who have confirmed it would be very difficult to steal without a lot of effort!

Yes, as far as I know he is, Andrew. HJ's contract with the DT was always separate from this site, and I think there has been an agreement about the use of the HJ name.
We own a semi-detached property in the West Midlands.
Our neighbour has a detached property.
We have a side path, wholly on our property, accessing the back door and back garden.
The side path has our lounge and dining rooms on one side, and the neighbour's bedrooms on the other side, approximately 1m apart.
There are no windows on either parties walls along our side path.
Our neighbour has his own side path on the other side of his property, between his property and his other neighbour.
Our side path has a gate, which is contained within a ?3-sided? wooden frame (left piece, right piece, top piece), similar to a football goal.
One side piece is attached to our dining room wall.
One side piece is attached to the neighbour?s bedroom wall.
Neither wall has any windows.
We purchased this property in September 2017.
The neighbour purchased his property in June 2014.
The gate has been in situ since AT LEAST June 2009 (earliest photograph available on Google maps website).
The neighbour has now demanded that the gate be removed because it is attached to his bedroom wall.
Given the fact that this gate has been in situ for 10½ years, AND BEFORE the neighbour purchased his property, AND ALSO the neighbour never insisted (to our knowledge) on the previous owners of our property to remove it, do we have to comply with his demand? Read more
It's easy to reply without noticing the dates.
I'm sure we have all done that occasionally.
By some sheer stroke of luck, my son has come into ownership of a Honda Jazz. No need to explain how, but it’s a 54 plate, low mileage auto in excellent condition. He is absolutely thrilled with it and from things Jazz owners have posted on here, I can understand why. But - his wife told me shortly before they took it over that Jazz’s are highly susceptible to catalytic converter theft as the converter is comparatively easy to remove. This was a bit of a concern as they live in London and the Jazz will be parked in the street.
So they’ve had it a couple of weeks now and just today he looked out of the window to see a stranger peering under the car. The stranger ran off before my son could challenge him as to what he was doing. He was clearly scoping the car out.
Do any Jazz owners have any knowledge or suggestions as to how the theft might be prevented? My son has read that a plate of some sort can be fitted to make theft harder, although not impossible. If it is a well-known problem, hopefully others have found ways of defeating the thieves. Read more
Some of the scrotes don't worry about being caught, they offer anyone who objects the business end of a knife, something one must accept living in a modern city apparently.
Yes Im afraid thats how London has got now, or has been for a long time now, not helped by not enough law about, including the walkabout police which used to be common sight...

If insurance companies can find an excuse to get out of any payment then they will, so I would suggest an email, or a recorded phone call and let them know today.

Hi All,
I recently had the EGR function disabled on my F31 330d purely from a reliability point of view and not for performance having seen the horror videos showing inlets and heads clogged up with black gunk. I plan on keeping the vehicle for many years and so i want it to be as reliable as possible and given its a BMW any jobs are not necessarily going to be cheap.... Read more
