Hi,
My car recently had the catalytic converter changed due to it being coked up but the performance is terrible since - could there still be crap in the system?... Read more
I was starting to get battery warning light on dash if engine was off but Stereo on (cleaning inside car etc)
It does a lot of short distance stop starts. I was going to ask for assistance in getting battery out but as it turned out I had a 9 hours drive on Monday anyway. I have a sensor in Cigerette lighter slot which shows an output of around 14 volts on average (I assume thats what it is lol)... Read more
You will need the correct type battery ,if you want any chance of the s/s system to work correctly .
Hi whilst I was in bed for doing a 12hr night shift the bin man smashed the mirror in my wing mirror which he admitted liability he was in contact with my partner and said he would sort it out himself which I was happy with but the day after the accident I was reversing my van outside my mothers house and the damaged passenger wing mirror was closest to the curb when I have hit the neighbours car which was parked on the path might I add which the wheels were over hanging by 3" it wasn't a lot of damage but it broke my mirror off completely and the neighbours car had a scrape from the front wing to the rear driver side door now I have paid for that damage as it was my fault but I have stopped using my van incase I damage or cause any further accidents the worker has since told us that he has informed his boss at the council iam in contact with the council but as I have stopped using my van I have been getting taxis to work which is only 3 miles away but still this is 4 times a week now I know I can't claim for the neighbours damage but can I claim for my taxi fares to and from work and do I just buy the replacement mirror lens and fit that to my damaged wing mirror Read more
If it's just a matter of replacing an entire mirror you may be able to find one on Ebay (less likely for a van I guess?) and DiY for not much money.
Well, once we leave the EU, we have the means to change policy that means this will no longer apply. It's particularly unfair for makes of vehicle that specialise in larger and/or 4WD/utility vehicles that will by definition have higher CO2 emissions than ones who make smaller/ordinary cars.
Maybe Suzuki could then sell more cars in the UK. Read more
Forget the EU Political Issues and controversy.
Surely Suzuki, if they really wanted to could put one of their turbo charged Booster Jet engines in the Jimny, tweak the ecu software and put a battery in it, to make it a SHVS mild hybrid ??
Because at the moment they are selling the Jimny at a premium price and maximising profits for the utilitarian vehicle.
And by issuing the 'in very limited numbers' statement Suzuki are going to sell even more by scaremongering prospective buyers as they may believe Suzuki are going to 'drop' the Jimny.
And I think they won't.
But the profit to Suzuki on each Jimny sold will be smaller if they make do make it a with Booster Jet engine and a Mild Hybrid SHVS vehicle.
I think it's all about the profit..... Not the emissions debate.
Mark, would a review search function be possible? Very useful Read more

If it is "only a spare wheel", why get a tyre only slightly smaller?. If you need to use it, presumably it will only be till the original is repaired/replaced?.

I am looking for a used SUV automatic petrol preferably. Looking for a 3 year old car and would like to keep for at least 7 years. My question is what cars and auto transmission types are more reliable in the long run? Do CVTs do better than the DSGs? Or the conventional torque converters are better suited?
CRVs and RAV4s are what I am considering at the moment. Heard Mazda patrols are not so good! Anything else out there? Read more
Just wanted to close the loop. Got a 15 plate CRV petrol auto last week directly from main Honda dealer. So far good. Thanks all for your help.
I was reading this article about a nasty murder case that's ongoing in Wales: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/jan/22/man-74-was-shot-with-crossbow-as-he-fixed-satellite-dish-court-told
What struck me was the section of the story below, about the data obtained from JLR's servers about the car's movements and functions:... Read more
Wow - well spotted 'misar' your revelation about what Mazda USA openly disclose on their website about the obligatory gathering of 'default data' via a TCU is astonishing! Whilst the function and purpose of the TCU is apparently only for 'monitoring' purposes the use of the word 'Control' clearly indicates future intent. Many law abiding drivers have been advocating the use of Telematic Control by Police Patrol Drivers and Local Authorities for such purposes as providing the ability of a police patrol car to reliably and safely bring a stolen/uninsured or aggressively driven vehicle, to a halt, in a controlled manner, additionally locking the miscreants into the car for subsequent interrogation - by telematic (aka radio) control and secondly, the installation, by Local Authorities, of roadside telematics systems, (principally in 20mph, 30mph and maybe even 40mph 'built up areas') that automatically engage with passing vehicles, to limit their speed in accordance with the prevailing speed limits.
In both cases, if a TCU is fitted to the car then these control functions can be 'enabled' by manufacturers and/or service agents, or even remotely 'over the air' by any authority or in any jurisdiction that either approves or demands such behaviour. ...
Your car is tracking you... (if it isn't now, new ones will be soon....)
Edited to remove names.... Read more
My employer removes all manufacturers' tracking devices from company vehicles as their banking businesses are direct competitors to us and if they tracked the vehicles they would know our clients and by the number of visits and identify the good ones.
Hi - we suddenly lost our car and find ourselves in a pickle trying to find a new one.
Usage is 40 miles a day, urban fairly windy roads 4 times per week.
Family of 4 so we need 5 doors and will be adding child seats, but this car is mainly used by 1 person to and from work.... Read more
<< Andrew-T, Why have you taken my quote out of context??? You've changed the meaning of what I've said! >>
Sorry, I don't find your meaning comes across from your original post, I have to insert absent quotation marks. But we agree about what we are both trying to get across.
Worried me when I heard about it due to my (bad?) habit of shoving bits of beer can (plus some Portland Cement) down my exhaust downpipe, with the objective of flame spraying the inside of the (non-cat) exhaust,
IIRC (from pictures, never had one) the exhaust path to the cat is very short on the affected Nissan engines. which allows transient reverse flows to cause this problem. Slightly reassuring since distances have been greater on the systems I've done this with, though blockage still a possibility. ...
