Hi SLO76

Yes, totally put me off! Something to hide....

You may have gathered from my other posts here that I am looking for a new motor.

I looked at my company's staff website and saw that a certain manufacture is doing a deal for our staff because the manufacturer is one of our customers.... Read more

Went to the dealer offering the staff discount yesterday. Told the dealer and was quoted without the benefit of the discount - despite providing evidence of qualification!

They didn't want to do the deal offered by their manufacturer, let alone come close to a broker price. ...

Hi wondering if anyone has any suggestions for my budget of £4000-6000 for an automatic with boot that's in the 350 litre plus range. I have a few other requirements/requests but I'm fairly flexible. I have two toddlers so a boot that can accommodate a double buggy is needed. I currently drive an old diesel Zafira and it's just unnecessary now they're older and I am only doing about 7000 miles a year/short journeys, plus it's a fairly high tax rate.

I'd prefer something with under about 80k miles as I have until now driven cheap cars nearing the end of their life until they give up. Similarly I would prefer something 2012 onwards bit if it's high spec or in decent condition then I'm easy. I would prefer petrol if possible but fuel economy is more a priority as I notice petrol autos with my requirements are rare! Wouldn't mind an estate if it's not too massive.... Read more

Just an update on my post from last week, I test drove a Hyundai i40 pretty much out of the blue and loved it. Bigger than I had intended to get but really comfy with lots of extras and a big boot.

Well, after two years and 33k miles on my BMW G31 540i, I need new tyres. The old ones are run flats, don't like them dont do much for the ride when cold.

Anyone ditched runflats on their Beemer?... Read more

I have recently replaced my original Bridgestone 245/45/18 run flats on my 520d to Michelin Primacy 3 Zero Pressure from Blackcircles. The Michelins are a lot better, ie quieter better grip and feel better than the Bridgestones. If I were you I'd cancel the Bridgestones and get the Michelins.

My. 1.33 2010 Yaris is doing very well, it never stops and is ultra reliable and cheap to run.

My commute is about to grow from 30 miles a day to around 45 miles so I feel like something a bit bigger and faster maybe on the cards. Looking in the South West mostly.... Read more

My daily commute takes me over the Severn crossing and the Yaris sometimes get pummeled fair bit with the cross winds and HGV's roaring beside you. So wanting something a bit heavier to deal with stability and more BHP to get away from the HGV's.

Is the Leon 1.4 TSI is reliable as say a an Auris? I usually keep my cars for around a decade before shifting to something younger ...

I am looking for some advice. I have elderly parents and they struggle to get in and out of my car and therefore I am looking at getting an SUV or crossover. I am limited to the dealerships in my local area and therefore am limited to Ford, Suzuki, vauxhall and VW. Based on my research I am leaning towards a Suzuki Vitara due to the boot size and wondered if anyone else had any opinions. Read more

Thanks for all of the advice it's really appreciated. I plan to change in march as the weather gets a bit better and will test drive a few. Never thought of taking one of my parents along so will consider that too.

Cheers...

I for one sincerely hope not, but a peek at the footnote on the HJ Home Page would indicate all is not well. Read more

Hi all - firstly I am a car idiot so apologies for that. I have searched for an answer but cannot find anything

I have a 308 SW which has always had a tow bar fitted, which I've never used. I'm now thinking it maybe good to use it for a bike rack, however I cannot find an electric harness for it. Is it possible the car has a tow bar without the option of electrics? I've looked under the car but don't really know where to look and can't find anything in the manual... Read more

Maybe an earlier owner used it for a rack which didn't obscure any lights or the reg.plate (if that is possible) ?
