Hello
I have a bit of sensitive situation that I was hoping to get quick advice on. I am a named driver on a car belonging to my mother (but only driven by me normally). My mother is the main policy holder, but she has basically gifted the car to me and my wife.... Read more

MiL is hardly the end of the world, its not like the engine seized or the gearbox dropped off.
No, i wouldn't be buying one in preference to a Landcruiser or Hilux because i trust the electrics on the Japanese marque to be far better tested for durability than on the LR.
Perhaps if the fines were punitive and the phones confiscated on the spot, it might send a message to these idiots. Using a mobile whilst driving is socially unacceptable as well as being extremely stupid. Greater publicity of causing death by dangerous driving, including using mobile, guarantees a life sentence in jail should feature heavily in places where young people gather. Read more
I think it is really dangerous. I still remember a story when one famous racer got distracted by changing a CD in his stereo system and he got into a small accident.
I can't ask my question without some preamble. Still, I'll be as succinct as I can!
I suffer from extreme Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. In a nutshell, this means that I respond physically to the tiniest amounts of airborne toxins - amounts other people would never even slightly react to. So I get very unwell in a great many cars as the tiniest whiff of anything coming from an engine will affect me badly.
I know that (in a front engine car, at least) the air intake for the cabin is right next to the engine, and my perception is that once an engine is a bit old, there will always be some airborne 'nasties 'from the engine that will get inside. Although there is a barrier between the air intake and the engine - this barrier does not appear to be air tight in many cars and, as mentioned, the tiniest amount of 'oily fumes' will make me ill.
So the thought struck me that a rear engine car might suit me better. That is, it will suit me better IF having the engine in the rear means that the cabin air will NOT then come via a route that's next to the engine.
So my essential question is: Where does the cabin air enter on a Renault Twingo or a Smart ForFour? Does it take an 'airtight' route without being in proximity to engine fumes? And what about if the heater's being used? Thanks in advance. Read more
@daveyjp Got it. Thanks a million for your help.
Courier forum one chap wants to order a new Dacia Logan MCV with the £400 LPG option.
No Logan MCV or Logan Stepway advertised on the Dacia UK website as part of the range?
Is this due to shortages of stock or have the pulled it from the UK?

Reason for delay with new Fiat Commercial models (re-badged Peugeot’s) is due to the EU holding up the PSA Fiat take over on concerns PSA will have too much of the commercial market and push up prices.
Another way to read it is Renault/Dacia and VAG don’t like the idea of PSA having a budget commercial brand
On the M20, inside lane, safe distance but only two lanes. Car in front suddenly lurches to the outside lane revealing a stationary car in my lane. A safe distance between me and the moving car is now as nothing bearing down on the stopped car. I had an Audi in the process of overtaking me, Just managed to avoid the stationary car and accelerated to avoid the Audi too. No hard shoulder for the stationary car to take refuge in. I guess the guy behind had to do the same as me and that no one else hit that car. When swmbo recovered her power of speech she was full of praise for me avoiding the collision which is about the first time in 44 years a positive comment has come my way. Read more

It's an oldish car. Peugeot wiper motors were prone to similar failures such as refusing to park correctly. If you feel up to a bit of DiY, find a used motor on E-bay. The electronics are probably integral with the motor assembly.

The car is 17years old but I’m still planning a warranty claim on Toyota !!
Things aren’t suppose to break on a Toyota !
I now have the Mondeo titanium but no powered tailgate. I think it is a cost option.
