Hi

I am looking to pick up a 2017 Hyundai Tucson this Friday from a second hand dealership. Just as I was leaving the dealership (after paying £200 deposit) I noticed the black trims all over (bottom and top) have white drip marks no them. One of the rear lights is also covered in white drip marks (to the plastic). The metal bodywork seems fine. The dealer suggested it is polish that was put on incorrectly, without protecting the trims. It seemed like some would come away when scratched with a fingernail.

I cannot see an option for uploading a photo, otherwise I would....

Does anyone have any ideas??

Thank you in advance.

As long as it wipes away its probably just car polish? Can you upload a photo to the link the previous poster put?

Check the voltage regulator, back in the day it was a fairly common failure on the 18R series engines.

Searching for help having a nightmare !! Have a clicking noise coming from the fan belt area .. disappears when aux belt is removed ... garage said was tensioner or alternator.. changed tensioner first no difference! Changed alternator and the clicking went away instantly! But 2 days later the belt started squeaking randomly (only on a cold start) changed the belt squeaking stayed . about 2 weeks after that the squeaking went away and the clicking noise has returned!!! Exactly the same clicks on cold start . Disappears if I rev to 2k revs ..! Question is did I break another alternator or did changing the alternator slightly alter whatever was clicking originaly and has now returned ? .. also removed idler and A/c by putting shorter belt on - no effect on clicking so those 2 r rules out? Any ideas!! Read more

Any ideas as to why the rear passenger footwell in my 06 Ford Focus is completely soaked? All the other footwells are dry so it doesn't seem to be leaking from the front to back. Read more

Could be due to underbody vents. Also check sparewheel well in boot

It’s possible you have a wiring issue into the doors . Broken and corroded wiring is not uncommon on VW models . Find an electrical tech that can fault find with a wiring diagram.

Hi, Hope someone can help with this please. Reversing camera and reversing lights packed in and worked briefly after I replaced the fuse, but this blew again. Now I have this warning light flashing on start up when the car is cold. and according to the handbook this may indicate that the transmission is not working properly. The car drives as normal. Would appreciate any advice please. Is it the Subaru garage; are they any good? Or a an auto electrician to start with?

Feel pretty sure this is all related, and incidentally before the camera stopped I noticed some water ingress in the boot.... Read more

Hi,

Drove the car to Subaru (30miles) and all OK apart from the flashing light. They have confirmed it is an electrical issue, which they are trying to trace. Many thanks to all who replied....

When I bought a second car about 8 months ago, I added it to the insurance policy of my existing car. The insurer kindly gave me 5 years 'Introductory NCD' on the second car, as i had built up many years NCD on the first car.

The renewal inviitation received the other day shows that I have 13 years NCD on the first car and 6 years NCD on the second car. It doesn't mention 'Introductory NCD' anywhere.... Read more

Essentially that's the experience I had when changing from RAC insurance to Esure in the early 2000s - I actually had only 5-6 years with them, but because they 'gave away' 5 years NCB free when I bought my previous car, I 'had' 10-11 whenh changing with a certificate to say so, despite only owning any car for 5-6 years.

Some allow it, some don't.

Hi Everyone,

So to cut a long story short we recently (in September) bought a 5 month old car from a main dealer.

Just before Xmas we received a refund on the road tax .... very odd

We called the dvla to find out why they had refunded the road tax and they said it was because the car had been reported as scrapped on their system and asked us to send photos of the car/Vin etc sitting on our drive.

DVLA are not exactly being helpful. Will not tell who/where reported the car as scrapped. However needless to say they are telling us the car cannot be driven on the road. To say we are a tad miffed is an understatement as we had road trip holiday planned.

This is not any issue with the main dealer.

Has anyone had anything similar or any advice on this?

Thanks

Steve

Actually that is so true, you see how good or bad they are when they back onto a loading bay.
