Got my eye on this estate who is currently owned by a friend.
Like the shape and versatility.
But how do the experts ie you rate this car ? Read more
They're good old buses - get a decent one and they are a fine prospect.
However, cut it a bit of slack, it's 15 years old and presumably not costing a fortune so if you're expecting zero issues then be realistic. ...
Since HJ recommended this book about life in the motor trade it has become hard to find.
Has anyone a copy they wish to sell or maybe loan ?... Read more
Many thanks.
HJ enjoyed it and recommended it to someone who was thinking of setting up in the motor trade. But things have moved on since Geoff started in 1945 and the introduction of the Sale of Goods Act.
Wonder if SLO has read it ?
Call me old fashioned, but I don't think that a 3 cylinder 1.2 litre engine in a car the size of the C5 Aircross is a recipe for longevity. I prefer a larger normally aspirated engine such as the 2.0 litre in my Mazda CX-3 automatic, which returns an average 43mpg. Read more
Having seen a strip down video of a Puretech 130 engine its safe to say PSA Peugeot / Citroen have really designed & engineered this power unit extremely well.
Latest update to this engine design is now 155 bhp & 240 Nm of torque.
Is DH (Sporty but nice) aware that the Mazda CX-3 has been discontinued in the UK? There may still be a few unregistered cars in the dealer network, but they will already have depreciated in value before they leave the showroom. Mazda are hoping that former CX-3 buyers will go for the new and more expensive CX-30, but that remains to be seen. Read more
Pedal to the meddle - HJ didn't answer the question. The clutch and brake fluid may use the same reservoir.. but you do need to replace the fluid in the clutch circuit as well, by bleeding the slave cylinder.
The poster's mushy pedal also sounds like a knackered slave cylinder. Bleed the slave (which will improve the situation) but if the pedal collapses again .. which will probably happen straight away.. then the slave has had it.
Re:Deadly dogma
Interestingly, the paper talks about re-testing older motorists' capability to drive.
I think that's the greater issue here. Read more
That last bit about taking another test, I absolutely agree with, there is no way on earth that people can be trusted to self regulate themselves and voluntarily take responsibility for their actions, if no ones looking they will walk away, moral obligation is redundant, always.
I hope both new special editions get buyers Interested Read more
Got the above whilst mine is in the bodywork shop. Quite impressed with it, nippy and easy to drive, good visibility all round and decent quality inside. It feels bigger inside than it looks and is comfortable. Seems good little car. Read more
I am sure the very latest model is a completely different car. I was picking up on the favourable impression that an older model had made as a courtesy car.
BBD trust me if it was a simple wiper remount on the spline then Corsa forums would not be regularly beefing about it as an issue. It was a while since I tried to solve it but as I recall the issue was that the arc of the wiper sweep gets too wide when the car is moving and wind takes hold and even if you adjust it to the lowest possible setting for the bottom of the screen, it still slaps the pillar. Repair means replacing lots of parts. It affects C and D models and I have one reference to E as well. Good point about the smoothness analogy of the sewing machine and I will use that if a potential buyer picks up on the metallic noise from under the bonnet ;-).
Terry you are right to a degree about age but I am continually underwhelmed by the lack of quality of any bit I need to repair and unimpressed that the same issues are well documented in the Corsa forums, across successive models. Perhaps Peugeot will instil some continuous improvement practices going forward.
Hi folks, long time lurker first time poster!
I bought a '09 Fiesta Titanium 1.4 Auto in October, but since then it's been in and out of the garage with numerous battery issues. ... Read more
Take it back to where you bought it from you have rights especially in the first six months(in UK):-
So far so good. MrsF is delighted with it. Being tall, I like the tiny low wheel over which you see the dashboard clearly instead of the top of the wheel sometimes obscuring some of it, as in my Audi. With 30% more power than our old Focus it's a sporty little thing. The EAT6 box is excellent, even though the relaxed 6th gear (just over 30mph per 1000 revs) is rarely engaged on B or even A roads, although you can persuade it to trundle along the level and downhill bits by nudging it manually into 6th. It won't let you labour the engine, changing down even in manual mode if you try. And even 5th gear is 25mph per 1000 revs, 5mph more than the manual 5th gear in a rorty revvy 80hp 1.2 Pug 208 we hired recently on hols. For overtaking you can press the S button to drop down a gear, or just floor it and it goes like a rocket, spooling rapidly to smooth 6000 rpm change-ups.
Petrol consumption is disappointing, though probably as expected from a tight new engine tuned for power rather than economy. Brim to brim, it consumed 105.35 litres for 895 miles of mostly local short trips (we use my more comfortable car for longer journeys). That's 38.7 mpg, little better than our old Focus which was 37.6 when I last measured it over a similar distance (but with more motorway journeys). The oil level hasn't moved noticeably from the max mark.... Read more
I suspect your one looks quite a bit different to the new one ... yours looks, as you say, 'ordinary' (and that's not a disrespectful comment) whereas the new one has far more "modern" design cues. Inside and out. But if it sells then that's fine ... I'll just stick to something a bit more on the plain side.
The Captur isn't quite so eye catching ... but I would need to overcome this French thing that troubles me a bit....which doesn't bear scrutiny as I had a new Peugeot and a new Renault and both were fine. Well, the Renault was slightly less fine after I submerged it in two or three feet of water ... but I can hardly blame the manufacturer for that ... unless they accept that the air intake shouldn't have been sited a few inches off the ground, down by the front wheel....
Thank you very much
