If it only runs while you drive I can't see too much of a problem. Our car copes perfectly well running the caravan's fridge while we drive. The pins in the UK standard 13 pin car/'van connector it uses are only live when engine runs.

We've also run a small cooler box, powered from the car's 12volt aux socket, on long journeys in UK without issue. Again they're only live while engine runs. If the Aux sockets were permanently live as in some previous cars I've had then box would be disconnected for stops longer than service station breaks. ... Read more

There is an old landrover that lives in my residential street which for many months has been leaking oil when parked overnight. The vehicle is used regularly( taxed and mot'd) and is parked in the same local region most days. Recent wet weather has revealed the familiar rainbow oil spill covering a large busy area where the vehicle was last parked. Naturally, this is a dangerous skid threat.... Read more

I used to spend many, many hours trying to fix leaks. Engine, gearbox, transfer box - you name it, it leaked if it contained oil. You could fix one leak and then six months' later another one would appear. Then the first one would leak again...

I really cannot understand why the Series Land Rovers go for such silly prices now. I can understand the Defenders more since they came with decent TDi or TD5 engines but the Series ones were pretty dire, apart from the V8 - as long as you could cope with the fuel consumption.

I bought a brand new car in May and since then have had some problems. I've had warning lights flash on three separate occasions. Theyve all been related to a misfire code and each time the dealer has simply said they need more info and because its so random there's nothing they can do. This time however there were around 10 fault codes including the misfire, they all looked like they were ECU communication faults. Again the dealer has drove the car around and said its fine and cleared the codes. As I'm about a month out from 6 months, my next step is looking to return the car as its not fit for purpose and the dealer isn't fixing whatever the problem is. Is this a good route to take at this point? Read more

I'm thinking it's some sort of intermittent electrical fault. The car drives fine and if it wasn't for the warning lights and fault codes I would know anything was wrong, it certainly doesn't feel like the car is misfiring and when the warning light flashes, the car was normal. The dealer told me this time they drove the car around for 50miles to try and recreate the fault but couldn't (thanks for adding 50miles to the clock). My next step will be contacting Renault as I think it needs specialist input if it is electrical. Just not happy paying for a new car up front only for multiple Fault codes to keep reappearing.

These findings are not consistent with my experience.
In 2016 I bought a new Mazda which I have insured through Mazda ever since.
For 2018 my premium was £425.04 and for 2019 it fell to £389.01.
There have been no changes to the policy or to my personal circumstances. Read more

Speaking to an ex fireman he gave me the impression that drivers and passengers in German Rear Wheel drive cars survive severe crashes better than any other vehicles.

Obviously a subjective view but one gained from a lifetime at the sharp end of accidents and no reference to the EU Crash ratings.... Read more
