I'm having an intermittent fault where the engine won't start first time. It turns freely for as long as you'll let it, just won't fire. If you stop and try again straight away, it fires up fine.
No error codes or warning lights. Battery is good. Car runs fine otherwise. Seems totally intermittent - regardless of wether engine is hot or cold, and damp weather etc.
Any ideas what I can check? Read more
I have a Dart Charge account for the M25 Dartford crossing.
Due to how work patterns change I haven't used this route for over 12 months. I received an email last week informing me that if I don't use the crossing or top-up my account in the next 90 days, my account will be closed!... Read more
I won't forget to cash the cheque.
I have just received a letter confirming that my account is now closed. A second letter is to follow with my cheque. The stupidity of these organisations never ceases to astound me, why can't they send the cheque with the first letter and be done with it?...
Would anyone know the radio code for our radio please?
The serial number is V223677

Euro 8, really? Just asking as Euro 7 is not actually defined yet?
Hi all
Just wondering where I stand I’ve ordered a new Jag XE on a 12 week lead time. Paid a £2k deposit however have signed nothing and car build has not started yet. If I was to cancel due to a unforeseen change in circumstances what are my rights in getting my deposit back?
Thanks Read more
A verbal contract is still enforceable - as they clearly had your money which I assume you willingly paid at the time, there must have been some sort of agreement in place.
So you are fortunate to have cancelled and have depositt returned ...
We're a two car family and I've been practising bangernomics for these past few years (after a bruising experience with DPF problems on a new car), just buying sub-£1000 cars, spending as little as possible on them, and scrapping them when faced with a large bill.
This has worked very well for the large family car - had a brilliant 2001 406 diesel that cost £500 and lasted me for two years, and an even better '98 reg honda accord that cost £350 and lasted three years.... Read more
Your budget really isn't enough for what you want.
Best bets IMHO are Yaris 1 and Daihatsu Sirion 05 on, but the better of these are at least £1700 and heading towards £3k asking price, particularly Sirions which tend to be really low mileage, can be found cheaper in manual form and they've got into the used market typical of this type of car they get bruised abused and neglected, you ideally want one having had only one or two previous mature owners....
Thread moved, then I find there's one there on the same topic.
Thankyou will give it a try and let you know
Hello everyone. I would really appreciate some help with this.
my car has a strange oily smell coming through the car vents inside the car. It seems very strong when the car is stood at idle, when it’s on the go I can barely smell anything.
I have put some engine cleaner in and about to get the oil and filter changed again but I am not sure that’s going to fix it.
I have spent a small fortune recently fixing an oil leak, changing rocker cover gasket, new front exhaust pipe , new timing belt and water pump (not to mention a new clutch)
This problem of an interior smell through the vents has been there all along with none of the above work making any difference
This morning the EML light came on and the code showing is PO171 engine running lean.
My mechanic now wants to remove hoses and inspect and clean in case there is a leak somewhere ?
Many thanks Read more
To state the obvious (sorry) an oily smell suggests an oil rather than a vacuum leak.
I wouldn't expect a vacuum leak to smell of anything, unless it was causing lean-burn overheating....
Fault/error codes are only a rough guide. The real time data needs to be analysed to establish what is not working within parameters.
