s'ok ta.
I rang GSF and they confirmed that they were the right ones.

Only for me tostick my head under the car , and find out that they are not.

The smaller end (pig tail) ones are for the rear

and the "same size radius" end are for the front.

Cheers all

I've recently purchased a 2012 Ford Focus ST. When do cars generally need rustproofing again and protecting with underseal from rust?

I intend to look after the Focus ST i've just bought for investment purposes so keen to ensure it's fully protected from rust Read more

Thanks Big John, i'll try a pot of that stuff, i like the sound of it going hard after a period, i bert a lot of Navara owners wished they'd squirted some inside their chassis.

Yes i know the ACF50 gets washed off, so what i do is use it twice a year on those high abrasion areas on my Toyota, using other rustproofers on those areas i can't really see if there's any deterioration happening underneath the covering.

My 6000CD radio stopped working after I fitted a new battery, I entered the code but it still would not work.

On checking I found that the VID is not in there, the hand book explains how to enter the 16 character VIN number.... Read more

Modern engines are not optimised for 99 Octane fuel. They have to have anti-knock sensors that can dynamically advance the timing until pinking occurs and them slacken it off a bit. If they were indeed optimised for 99, they would pink like crazy on 95 and burn holes in the pistons as well as being very gutless and having atrocious fuel economy. Read more

I have had a Mazda 3 with their 2.0L 150PS manual option (Sport), from new and now at around 32K miles. It has always run as recommended in the Mazda manual on branded 95 RON unleaded (mostly but not always BP). As an HJ fan I finally succumbed earlier this year, ran the tank low and refilled with 99 RON. It then had another four tanks of 99 RON, all BP, before I went back to 95 RON.

I honestly could not detect any difference in everyday performance - the car drives very well and felt exactly the same on both grades. More surprising, after reading HJ's comments for so long, the mpg was the same. I always keep a very detailed record (brimming the tank, not from the computer) and while on 99 RON mpg stayed almost identical to the long term average. I could actually see the consistency with each tankful because I always zero a mileage trip after each fill then look for the mileage at which the fuel gauge drops to half full. Not sure if it is Mazda or my driving but I have long been surprised at how good that is for guessing when the gauge is about to change (it has eight markers rather than a pointer)....

I'm wondering whether the Tesla figures are slightly skewed because maybe all the people that put deposits down for one are suddenly taking delivery of them as production catches up with advance orders. Will be interesting to see whether they sustain this position in the sales charts.

Re: Neutral attitude

The problem you describe is largely due to VAG's stupid arrangement that cuts out the stop/start when the DSG transmission is in Neutral. I always place my Skoda with a DSG box into neutral at lights and unless the car has just been started a few seconds before this, it always switches off until I put my foot onto the accelerator once again. Re : The law of averages,
Thought not entirely accurate, noting the 'average mpg' display will reveal that regardless of speed, the fuel consumption increases on gradients, that is "in the real world". It makes more difference than speed in many cases, in the UK the older M-ways are better as it seems they kept the inclines to a minimum, no doubt to cope with the cars & lorries on the 50s and 60s.

I am pleasantly surprised at how cheap things can be at places like ATS. I recently bought one new tyre, scrapped an ancient one and exchanged one of the other three. After buying the tyre online, the whole operation cost about £65.

If you are swopping all tyres round, it is simple for them to hoist the car and take all four off, putting them wherever you want, in about 10 minutes. That doesn't include tracking of course, which will cost a bit more.

I'm in the process of buying a new car and the dealer has offered me various additional financial products such as GAP and paint protection. There is also Alloy Wheel and Tyre cover and a separate minor dent / scratch / scuff cover.

I have found that other dealers offer the same cover but at lower prices.... Read more

Just bought GAP for the uncles pre-reg Celerio. Its a replacement policy i.e if the car is written off the day before the policy expires he would get the value of replacing that car (or a similar car if it been discontinued) with a brand new one (or probably a pre-reg since the original car was a pre-reg). £199 for 5 years cover....
