Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this puzzle. My wife bought a used Nissan Note. The paperwork says that it was registered as a Nissan Note Ntec 2011 but when I saw it on the back of the car it says Note and on the other side SVE.
I looked at the Ntec on google images and it seems the label says Ntec underneath the Note label on the back left of the car. I tried to google if there was an SVE version of the Ntec but I cannot seem to find anything.
How can you be sure that the car you brought is the right one. I am not a pro at this by any means it just seemed odd to me. All the paperwork says Ntec but no NTEC on the car. Is there any other way I can confirm this or am I just being paranoid?
Thanks

Sounds like like it has had a bump up the back and needed a new tailgate. If it is a Cat C then it should be mentioned on the front page of the V5 when it comes back.
There is always ready demand for Cat C/D cars - even if UK buyers don't want them as long as they offer a saving over a "normal" one there is high demand from buyers who export them where a UK recorded Cat C/D is irrelevant....
Can anyone explain of how when approaching/using a Crossroad when a Traffic lamp is suspended over the centre of the crossroad flashing either Amber or Red, but not changing its colour.
Do you stop and proceed with caution etc ??... Read more
From my many visits to canada, STOP and then proceed with caution is correct.
Going again in the late spring, after the snow melts of course....
Something to make me smile a bit..
I have a buy to let flat, and my tenants (who were 1. good tenants and 2. from the eastern part of europe) had a uk registered vehicle, which they had used to cross the Dart Bridge/tunnel twice over the space of a few days.... Read more
On the Dart Charge. I set up a continuing debit which they take whenever I use the crossing. It has worked a treat so far.

My wife is the 2nd owner of a very tidy & reliable W reg fiesta with 27,000 genuine miles on the clock, sadly the quick clear windscreen has stopped working, such a shame in the winter months when it is needed most.
Does anyone know if there is an easily rectified fault with the quickclear system on this vehicle ? replacing the screen is not viable considering the age... Read more
Thank you for your input which saved me time looking in the wrong places.
I will get a price for a replacement heated screen but I suspect taking into account the age of the car that it will probably be prohibitive....
Parked up in our car at local supermarket car park as far away from store as possible. Space chosen with no neighbours. On return there was a BMW X5 one side and a Discovery the other side. Couldn't see what was driving towards us from either side until we were half way out of space.
Isn't it time SUV, MPV, UTE/Pick-ups had their own designated parking area on grounds of safety of car drivers? Read more
I am constantly bemused by this hablt of marking out car parks as if we are still driving sixties cars. If car parks markings are redone it seems more to create an extra space or two. I am only aware of one car park that was remarked with larger spaces. However this was a private car park belonging to a pub/restaurant where the landlord has a slight mobility problem and is aware of his customer's needs.
Do we need more of these b****y vehicles proliferating our byroads and highways?
Now you can get yourself a reliable Fiat. The stupidly named Fullback (nearly as bad as Defender), essentially a Mitsubishi L300, will be joined by Renault's version of the Nissan Navara. Then Mercedes introduce their posh version, basically a pimped up, plush Nissan.... Read more
Wow so negative GB, I can't help thinking how much better the UK is from my vague memories of the 60's and 70's and how despite having had great opportunity to succeed myself my 23 and 19 year sons have even more opportunities (despite the brevity vote), I'd love to go back and relive my 20's and 30's now in 2016! Let's not forget that as a country we're a bit skint because we've spent so much on pensions and health care for our and our parents generation without asking for enough back.
Sorry, but yet another request for car change recommendations.
We currently have a Focus 1.6 2007 Zetec Climate, and have had it for six years. Its been a great car, relentlessly reliable, but just lately has started to cost money on a regular basis. Handbrake cable, exchange driveshaft and transmission oil seal, auxiliary belts etc etc, all in the last six months.... Read more
Thanks for the new replies.
Usage: probably no more than 200 miles a week at most. Mostly A road and M way driving, not much stop/start commuting. Size wise, the Fiesta is as small as I would go. I've always wanted a really big car and never had one, but for lots of reasons such a thing would be totally impractical now. I'd certainly consider an auto, even though we once had a Meriva with that awful Easytronic semi automatic gearbox, which although it wasn't of course a true auto was enough to put anyone off aut***ift for life. ...
Hello,
I have a 2008 Vectra 1.9 cdti. The engine produced a P0400 code (EGR Valve) last week. I replaced the EGR valve today with a new one and cleaned the Idle Control Valve (Throttle Body). However the engine still revs (the RPM needle bounces up and down between 1000 RPM and 3000 RPM) a few times on its own when I depress the clutch. This happens randomly and there is no discernable pattern.
Also the car tends to surge forward when I am driving for no apparent reason. Sometime the engine seems to temporarily lose power when I am driving.
In summary I have:
Replaced the EGR Valve
Cleaned the Idle Control Valve (Throttle Body)
Confirmed the swirl flap rod is still in place
No Fault Codes Present... Read more
You didn't clean the throttle body or idle speed control valve because diesel engines don't have either. What you cleaned would have been the anti-shudder valve, which is a butterfly valve but not a throttle. I would remove the entire air intake including the manifold and thoroughly clean it, removing all the thick sludge that forms on the inside. Make sure the turbo wastegate actuator moves freely and easily and that it works.

Why not just buy a nearly new car with a HP loan. HP rates are very low these days, that way you dont have to worry about the mileage except when you trade it in.
You pays your money and makes your choice.
