The auto shift lever console (PRND) does not light up when the lights are turned on. The manual option of +/- used to light up on the + light but no more! Is this an easy fix as it looks to me like the entire central console with the cubby box needs to come out.
Any advice would be welcome.... Read more

Nick, the dear lady blogger Anna Racc*** has closed her blog because she sadly is dying, a fine mind there and a rebel who would not take the hysteria surrounding Savile and other cases at face value, she is already sadly missed.
Thanks for letting us know that GB. I knew Ms Rac personally/professionaly for a while in closing years of last century. Told a good tale but was as mad as a box of frogs. ...
Well with all these safety aids in cars, smart motorways, self parking cars and all all what do backroomers think we have to look forward to? Read more
With increasing problems in accessing components in cars, I'm surprised that robot type tools are not appearing in workshops. It would also be good if the diagnostics were improved on cars.
I don't see fully autonomous cars being commonplace in my lifetime (but I am old), we seem to have enough problems with automatic transmissions.
I doubt it would be worth spending millions on robots to repair cars, its cheaper to replace a complete unit, another problem is size of components now or should I say microchips....
The Government has announced that from 8th November 2016, anyone caught using a hand-held mobile phone while driving a car would be fined £200 and receive six points on the licence. Read more

We have some neighbours who have been a bit unlucky with their past couple of cars, and one of the other neighbours has allowed them to use their "spare"car for a good few weeks.
A former workmate donated a 190,000 mile car to them, (was being used as a skip!)2 new stop light bulbs later, 2 new headlight bulbs later (changed at Halfords for £5 each + bulbs) a good clean, a fresh mot (no advisories) and voila one happy couple.. insured and taxed.... Read more
That's goood to know, as a change from all the vitriol directed at both Audi and diesels.
Glad they're happy....
About time i invested in a code/dianoatic tool. I've been looking at this from Marchine Mart www.machinemart.co.uk/p/laser-5091-eodb11eobd-code.../ Can anyone recommend anything better? Read more
As already said, this will actually only show & reset engine based codes, not manufacturer specific ABS, airbag & transmission codes. For that price, it's far too dear and doesn't do anything that a £10 bluetooth adapter & smart phone app wouldn't do.
Something like an Autel MaxiCheck Pro will do everything for the same money - I've had the previous version for some time & it is fantastic, it'll often read things that some expensive garage kit won't. The current model, around £190, will do ECU, SRS, EPS, DPF and electric handbrake diagnosis. Highly recommended.
I used to see these everywhere, the model with the lexus style lights. They seem to have disappeared from the roads. The car that Clarkson commented 'was one of the best driving cars in it's class'.
I know that there were problems with the diesels, but I'd have expected petrol versions to be long lasting.... Read more

Hi All,
I've had some issues (coolant leak, EGR valve) with my car (Citroen C4 Grand Picasso). It's within 6 months since I've purchased the car and I'm wondering who is legally obligated to pick up the tab for the repairs, myself or the dealer?... Read more
Yes, ROFL at "lose" points on your licence. Not the best use of the language, is it? However, I know what they mean and so would most other people.
CAB has been a useful source of advice for me over a fair period of time, but its wise to argue that using more than one point of reference when checking consumer law is good practice....

Brilliant news, should be an automatic loss of license, and there insurance sky hi.

Very good point, JC2, as a supplement to the Broker's excellent summary of contract law. Many thanks to you both.
You may be able to avoid a contract (in this case, get your deposit back) if the terms were (a) not the normal ones for this type of transaction, and (b) not made clear to you at the time of entering the contract....
