And my goodness, what a price !!

'Sinkhole' opens up on the A1 Western Bypass just days before the roadworks are supposed to be finished.
Having driven past there the day before the sinkhole appeared it was obvious they were months from completion. Pure coincidence that this sinkhole appeared overnight in the coned off area? ;-) ... Read more
Changing the front brake pads on my son's car today; its a 2009 Fiesta 1.4.
I've done this job before several times and can only imagine that I was distracted due to the fact that it was raining. Instead of removing only the caliper guide bolts on the first wheel I disconnected one caliper guide pin bolt and then unscrewed the brake hose union bolt instead of the second guide pin bolt. I sat there watching the fluid pouring out thinking it was rainwater, and it was at least a minute before I realised what I'd done. Needless to say, the pedal refused to be anything but spongy when I had finished.... Read more
Thanks for that. There was plenty of fluid left in the master cylinder, fortunately, and when I bled the brakes at the one wheel it was clear that I hadn't actually lost all that much yesterday.
I did find a clip on Youtube where one US contributor insisted that he never used new copper washers when refitting a brake union nut, but as Haynes recommends it I replaced them anyway.

No lights flash, they should do, I suspect it is just the batteries.

Sack both of them... Keep Sabine, get Vicky Butler Henderson on board and a female- comedienne- driver
Vicky B-H would guarantee I'd never watch it, can't bear the sight of her self satisfied "aren't I wonderful" mugging at the camera. She's why I don't watch Fifth Gear, just as Evans is why I haven't watched the new Top Gear.

I think the Infiniti Q50 can be had in manual with a proper handbrake, although i think the manual is restricted to the smaller capacity engines, perhaps someone can correct me on that.
Just watched the news and Boris Johnson came on and drove off in a black ml 1 focus. I was slightly surprised, not sure what i thought he might have. Probably be can't be seen in a German or v French car right now? Read more
BoJo is a classicist, doing 'poorly at science and maths' according to Wiki. This makes me deeply suspicious of his ability to understand economics, concepts and logical arguments - heaven help us if he becomes PM. I suspect he has as much interest in cars as backroomers have in fridges.
Although I applaud his wise/serendipitous choice of a Mk1 Focus!
Hi all
I know that as a rule constant short journeys are not good for the overall life of an engine. However, what would you consider to be too short, ie, to be detrimental... Read more
If you're worried about lots of short journeys shortening engine life you could have a mains electric coolant heater fitted to your car so that the engine is warm when you start up in the morning. It'll cost money to buy and fit and it'll use electricity so it might cancel out the value of a marginally extended engine life!
Alternatively walk or cycle sometimes on the shorter journeys, that's what I do....

Don't. My experience of F-Pace drivers (two so far in Manchester) is that their road manners make BMW drivers look like 90-year old spinster great aunts....
