Can anyone explain why caravans and motorhomes that carry propane are allowed to use the channel tunnel (with certain restrictions) but cars adapted for LPG are not?

There doesn't, at first glance at least, appear to be any particular logic to this. Read more

Ah, that makes more sense although, as you say, I can't imagine any potential disaster would be less catastrophic.

My gut sense tells me that there will massive procrastination as to whether or not to press the Lisbon "out-button". Why? --because even Boris knows that the 52% who voted out have been sold a massive pup. Read more

You could well be right.

Can we use the 'Brexit' thread that HJ started to discuss the EU, so that it's all in one place. He started it in the Motoring section, probably because more people would see it there - so that's where it is....

Hi

I noticed in the reviews section that there has been a few complaints from India about 2013 2 TDi passat water pumps failing. I bought a 2 TDi 2013 passat this weekend and have learned today that the cambelt + water pump + pulley + 2 camshafts has been replaced just a month ago at 130 000 miles. This is after the cambelt + water pump was already done at 114 000 miles. Why is this? Why replace the camshafts + pulley? Is it fixed now ro should I panic?... Read more

Hi, I'm looking for a car after selling my Capri 2.8 injection - looked at Toyota Selica but it's a bit too small...I'm 6'3"....need similar bootspace with back seats going down....been driving Capris for the last 35 years and can't quite bring myself to buy a Skoda Octavia or similar.. they seem so dull and homogenous, although they are reliable and cheap to maintain. saw a MB C1.8 coupe today and liked it....worried about maintenance cost ....2003 model ....full service history, 8 regular services to date .... any thoughts or advice? We like to help people choose their next car, but it's quite difficult to do that without knowing what their budget is.

As you looked at a 2003 Mercedes we can assume that that's the age of cars that you're going for: there are plenty of higher-powered coupes from Mercedes, BMW and Audi, for example, which will probably fit your tall frame, but something less 'prestige' would be either cheaper or newer for the same money....

Hi, I'm after some help with emissions on my Mrs Ford Focus its the 1.6 to vct engine, management light came on little while ago and came up with p0036 o2 sensor.

knowing it was due an mot soon I got a friend to do an emissions test first to see if it would pass but it didn't he said it was just over.
So bought new sensor couple weeks later took it to mot garage and asked them to fit before they they mot it, they put there scanner on and it to check which one was faulty and it came up with an additional fault p0056 as well so seems like they've both registered a fault, according to the codes these are both number 2 sensors after the cat bank 1 and bank 2. Garage replaced them both reset codes and light went out ok but car refused to pass emissions test still.

So need help with next step, mechanic said both sensors were pretty coked up and asked when plugs where last changed, told him we'd only had the car 7 months so not to sure service history showed it had been regularly serviced but didn't show plugs and air filter changes. So I'm going to replace plugs and air filter anyway is it worth trying some cat cleaner? Or is it likely that if both them sensors have failed the cat is already had it?

Righto I get the idea now but yeah seems there's a lot more to it than I'm going to be able to do and that's the next step to find out what exactly it's doing and how it's running.
Not sure where everyone who's posted on this thread is from but don't suppose anyone knows of a garage in or near the Epsom area that they have experience with or can recommend?
If I can be recommended one its a lot easier than trying to find one I can trust. The only garage I used to use and trusted sold up and moved away.
Thanks for all the help guys

The point is: there is nothing wrong with occupying the 'moral high ground'. It is much nicer than the alternative poistion of the remain camp. As Alan Bennett put it so succinctly in Talking Heads; ' They are very high up in sewage'.

I stand by my actions and am prepared to justify them to anyone who cares to ask in a sensible manner....

Hello. I've seen some posts and FAQs on this but cannot find specific answers. Almost 5 years ago a van crashed into the back of my car. While my car was fixed the insurers of the van driver provided me with what I thought was a courtesy car but was in fact a rental hire. I had no idea I would still be enduring hassle 5 years later. Where do I stand? Here is the gist, an email from the solicitor acting on behalf of teh rental hire company:

Been there, done that! I put the whole situation in the hands of a solicitor provided by the Legal Cover Clause in my insurance policy. They took their own sweet time, and at one point tried to persuade me to accept an 80/20 split for the claim. My answer is unprintable. I stuck to my guns and eventually after playing hard ball for many months the claim was settled, no money from me or my insurance company, result. If you feel you are right and you have good evidence to back you up then stick to your guns and tell them go and whistle. Let us know how you get on.

Peugeot 407 1.8 petrol. Good Car, smooth, 125k on clock.

Developed an issue this morning - when lifting foot completely off accelerator can hear a 'grating' kind of sound coming from engine bay i think.

Accelerate again and the noise disappears.

Wondering what it might be and if urgent ?... Read more
