Can anyone recommend a good reputable Honda specialist to take a look at the valve clearances? I'd assumed everything was hydraulic these days until I had a read of the Haynes.

I may also get them to do the gearbox and diff fluid at the same time if I don't get around to it. I have the proper Honda MTF and Dual Pump fluids ready to go.... Read more

I bought a 1998 1.3 Toyota Corolla for £250 about 2 months ago for a daily commuter (will be covering 300 miles per week). The car has done 98,000 miles and I bought it from a woman I know through my girlfriends mother. For the last 2/3 years all it has done is trips from her house to the local tip and to pick a Christmas tree up, so it's done about 40 miles per year. She wanted rid of it because she didn't see a point in having two cars.

The car has a valid MOT and from what I've seen of it there is nothing stopping it passing another one, so it's mechanically sound. It's a surprisingly lovely car to drive, no wandering on the road, makes all the right noises and drives better than the 2010 Peugeot 3008 it's replacing. The one thing letting everything down however is the timing belt which was last changed in 2005. I've inspected the belt and it doesn't look worn or cracked, but I want to replace it just so I know it's been done.... Read more

Frankly I would not change it if it is not cracked.

Is it the garage or renault GB that are telling you this is not covered under warranty ? They are completely different.

If it's the garage, then tell them you want the fact that this is not covered under warranty to be put in writing. Mention that this is so you can take the matter up with Renault GB, and they might just have a complete change of heart ... If, on the other hand, they supply you with that in writing, then you have something to beat Renault GB over the head with, and persuade them to change their minds....

Hi,

I recently bought a Zafira B and at first it was working fine, a little misfire but nothing major.

Anyways a couple of days ago the steering for very heavy so I decided to topup the fluid with Dextron 2 i think recommended via local garage. couple of days after that I heart what seems to be a pop noise and heavy steering back, similar to a pipe bursting off due to excess pressure. When checked the fluid has leaked all over the floor, it has even managed to get on the plastics above the reservoir as if it had burst all over. but I can't seem to get close enough to have a good look, It's booked into the garage tomorrow and hoping it is just a pipe but just wondering if anyone has had anything similar?

Also when I bought the car there was a fair bit of engine oil on the engine from overfilling or careless topping up and this is reflected on the dipstick. I have a misfire on all four cylinders which I can only assume is the coil pack but the misfire is throwing fluid out the end of the exhaust so not sure what is going on there but again any help would be great...

Thanks in advance

When attempting to drive my motorhome, I select the required gear, Reverse or Drive on the selector, the vehicle will move approximately two foot, then the gear trips into neutral. The first time this happened I had to get the van recovered to my local garage who diagnosed the following two fault codes from the ASM ECU:

U1900 CAN Communication Bus Fault
P0560 System Voltage Malfunction... Read more

My car looks likely to be written off, 2008 Volvo V70, 76k. Bumper smashed, bonnet crumpled, one wing badly damaged and power steering gone. Reckon £8,000 with extra money above settlement on new car so what to get? Need some economy, get 5 in sometimes, and reliable. Any ideas?
