fans were running last night when stopped which should have raised more of an interest in me given they never normally are with the commute home.

this morning after a short run to the shop on returning there was a black coffee esq leak running down the slope from under the car. looking under you could see it coming out from the under tray... Read more

Could be as simple as a hose let go. Replace, refill, remove airlocks, and good to go.

Or could have cooked the head - take apart, skim, rebuild ... or even the entire engine being scrap....

It appears that somebody has stolen the 'battery' that I use to disable the immobiliser in my 405.

This immobiliser works by me pressing what looks like a regular watch battery onto a contact pad near the steering column. Even when I did have the 'battery' this was something that was a PITA.

What can I do about this? Read more

I'm guessing its an aftermarket immobiliser? Just get a local auto electrician to remove it.

I'm looking for advise on how the Consumers Rights Act may help me and many others who currently have had the delivery of their new cars blocked by Skoda UK.

I ordered a new Skoda Superb 1.4TSI DSG SE-L from a broker, new-car-discount.com, on the 29th of February. I ticked many options, paid the deposit and the order was accepted and processed via NCD's Skoda dealer, whom they are acting as an agent for. I received notification that the car had arrived in the UK on 9th of May and delivery to me was organised to take place on the 6th of June. I received an invoice on the 25th of May which included Chassis and Registration numbers of the vehicle. I then however received an email as below on the 27th of May:... Read more

I got a quote from Coast to Coast for my V60, having originally approached them for a quote for a BMW 2-series Active Tourer. Just at that time (January this year) BMW seemed to have pulled some plug and stopped their dealers from selling through brokers. I don't know if that's still happening, but as I said above, they presumably don't want private punters getting fleet discounts.

Anyway Coast to Coast found nearly £6,000 off from a Volvo dealer in Yorkshire, but Yeovil Volvo matched it and their service was excellent throughout. Ross Hughes is one of the best salesmen I've come across.

I want to buy off eBay a rare collection DVD but it is only one that I can find is in American. I have never bought anything outside of UK before, I am not perfect in maths but how to work out the import charge?

The DVD is cost $50.00 with $12.00 postage to UK from Canada? Read more

Bit late but if VAT is charged, my understanding is that it is calculated on the basis of the value of the goods and the postage charge. I presume you are able to play N. American DVDs.

Hi Adey1981, I am currently experiencing the exact issues that you describe above on my Ford Focus Mk2 1.6 ti-vct. I have searched the internet hi and low for little over a week and only came across your thread today, thankfully. Please can you tell me did you manage to resolve your problem in the end? And if so, How? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

My Renault Master cuts out. It has no poor running, pulls well. Fault code DF053 has been noted. Any thoughts. I was thinking about replacing crankshaft sensor. Thank you for assistance. Read more

Thank you to all who are helping with this annoying problem. I work in the motor industry so I have been able to use a Autodata machine and a Bosch diagnostics. The first being non conclusive with a code and the Bosch giving a code DF053, fuel pressure( wiring, sensor or pump) It was suggested I replace the fuel filter and check for metal filings. No filings to be found( good news) Just a little water ,so I guess that would not help running. I will be having the Crankshaft sensor replaced tomorrow. Thank you for all your help.

Warning

My car is older type and does not have a 3.5mm jack, so there is no way for me to listen to stream music from my phone onto the car speakers. or hook a DAB radio. (I have used Pure Highway, but a mess of wires).

My radio is a factory fitted radio console and is part of the car's heating system.... Read more
