Yes - and up quite a steep hill after a dip as well (Map ref SP 884721), so must have had foot hard on accelerator.

Not to excuse the BPD, but, like so many RTCs, lots of contributory factors, not least this disgracefully dangerous busy single carriageway A road junction.

Hi I have a 2007 ford s-max. I've only had it about a month. It's done 100k. It came with AA parts and labour breakdown cover. Has been regularly serviced and was last serviced in April this year. Also had a check by AA prior to purchase and no issues were identified. Had no advisories on mot.

Recently been away on holiday in UK and whilst there on a couple of occasions the clutch pedal kept sticking to the ground. I managed to get it back up by turning off the engine and putting my toe under it. Drove back last night and stopped off at the drive thru. Whilst in there the clutch pedal went down to the ground again. Tried doing what I had done before but wouldn't come back up and when it did wouldn't go into gear. Husband ended up pushing me to a spot out of the way. Was a really bad burning smell too. With2 kids under 4 and it being 9pm we just got a taxi home with all our belongings but I'm going back today to call the AA and see what the issue is.

Just really worried as heard lots of horror stories about the dmf. I'm confused though as has already had clutch and dmf replaced.

Any advice please? thanks Read more

You say it's already had the clutch and DMF replaced. How long ago ?

For the sake of a horse-shoe nail the battle was lost.

The cost of a rivet and rivetting it = unit cost of €0.20...

We bought a citroen xsara picasso 2004 a month ago but a few weeks later 4th gear kept grinding so took it back. They changed the gearbox but now the gears have gone funny. Going 70mph in 5th gear and the engine is labouring like it's waiting to be put in a higher gear??? How is this possible Read more

Either the clutch is slipping or the replacement gearbox is from a different model with lower gearing.

To check for clutch slip, find a steep hill, select 2nd gear and from low revs boot it. If the revs increase much faster than the road speed, it's slipping.

The cam belt on my limited edition Clio RenaultSport Gordini has gone causing catastrophic damage to the engine. The garage have indicated it requires a new engine. With a rough estimate of costs around £7500. Renault say it's not economical and have offered me £1000 towards a new car or a used car up to 3 years old. The cam belt should be changed at 6 years old / 72,000 miles(?). My car is almost 6 years old wit 24,000 miles on the clock. The garage have indicated the cam belt would have been changed at next service. I want to repair my car and I want Renault to cover the costs of the parts. Is this something I can argue the case for. and are the garage and/or Renault responsible in any way for the failure? Read more

Hi,

Have any other owners experienced intermittent battery failures with this model. It has been recovered by the AA on six occasions in the last 18 months with a 'dead battery' following overnight parking. Our local Ford dealer have investigated 6 times and cannot find a fault, although on one occasion they replaced the battery. Any ideas on what might provide a permanent fix?... Read more

Can anyone recommend a competent auto electrician within 30 miles radius of Crewe? as the Ford dealer seems unable to diagnose the problem?

One year ago I crossed a 2ft deep river and a few months later my car has developed a few noises. One of these noises is a high and low pitch humming (oscillated noise) in the range of 35-60 mph. Before and after this range the noise cannot be heard. I must said that after the river crossing the right front wheel bearing cracked and it had to be replaced together with the front left wheel bearing. ... Read more

Is this one of the new Niva imports to the UK? If so I'd be inclined to ask the importer as it should have a 2 year warranty.
