Hi
Ive recently called a dealer to query the mileage on DVLA website. They told me it all looked good it calculated correct and its written on the MOT certificates as KM for the higher readings. I paid a deposit.... Read more
I have a Tucson with 235/60R16 tyres on it. The recommended PSI is 30 all round. However, when I do this, The tyres look under inflated and the handling is terrible. Honest John said that it was due to the high profile tyre size. I dont wish to change tyre size but I was wondering as it says in the side wall 36psi max cold, If I inflated the tyres to 33psi front 30 rear would it be safe to do so or would I be in danger of blow outs when the tyre warms up. Would it make a difference to tyre wear?. I dont do any off road driving. Read more
36 is an ABSOLUTE max, if that's what it says.
It's a big, wallowy off-roader. The handling is always going to be terrible. Unless you put silly big wheels and low-profile tyres on it, in which case the handling will be better, the ride quality will be terrible, and the wheels and tyres will be vulnerable to expensive damage....

I have a 1999 Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI 110bhp and i am having fuel problems.... Read more
The 406 2.0. Hdi was probably the best car Peugeot made in recent years but it is still an Hdi and although a relatively simple one.
The in tank pumps can fail and deposit metal filings into the fuel system which can cause problems, but as already mentioned if the fuel pump is running you should have fuel at the filter, if you haven't it probably isn't, or at least its not pumping anything.

Have removed the injectors stripped and run then through ultrasonic bath, they were spotless. I have stripped and cleaned out the EGR valve and manifold, changed glow plugs, cleaned out and sprayed electronic connection contact spray on all switches and sensors I can relate to this issue. Hi gantyz I am a nvq lvl 3 mechanic currently doing my nvq lvl 4 as a master tech first things first the starter motor is very difficult to wire up wrong you will have a 12v power supply going to the positive terminal on the starter tryingto connect it to earth will only make it spark. the earth is usually done through the body I assume you have no problems starting and running the vehicle? hence your able to have the battery light come on when it's running. Plus if it cranks it means the signal wire going to the starter motor solenoid is OK and connected in the right place. The battery light being on is usually always to do with the alternator I assume you have a multimeter have you checked the charging voltage of the battery when the car is running?

Hi,
I bought a Fiat Bravo at an auction 4 years ago, car has treated me really well and it worked out as a great but doing 25k a year is making me look again.
I've been able to find some low mileage 4-5 year old C4's and after reading into it I'm given the impression of a reasonably reliable car with high depreciation which suits me. I have found an automatic that is actually the model to avoid but having never driven an automatic I'm still interested.
What is confusing me though is that the vehicle is listed on an auction website but the seller is actually a dealership. Is this an instant sign of something to be concerned about as surely they would just sell it themselves?
Any advice on the EGS automatic would also be helpful. Read more
Advice on EGS automatic: Just don't.
Hi,
I want to put my car up for sale. Someone suggested putting a flyer inside the car, but I know my local council has prosecuted some street car dealers. They park up cars on the street and leave for sale signs on them. These dealer operate from home and don't have any premises.... Read more
Doesn't a car with a FOR SALE sign encourage nosey parkers as well as those well intentioned?
For the 3rd time in the past few months I have had cars and 1 van overtake me and pass the refuge in the middle in the opposing carriageway (fortunately empty at the time) in various places on 3 different occasions.
This must go down as dangerous driving, surely! Read more
I wonder whether dashcam footage of these sorts of antics would be sufficient for the Police/CPS to charge the suspect?
I suspect many of us see the occasional demonstration of stupidity, and I would hope that the increasing use of HD dashcams might help to get some of the most deserving cases prosecuted....
Strikes me as being more 'cock up' than conspiracy on this one. The 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016 mileages look kosher so the 2013 is odd. Probably the system has converted the real miles into kilometres for whatever reason. The 14,684 km = 9,124 miles. Looks OK doesn't it when viewed with the other mileages around it.
Having agreed to buy a 12 year old car with only 10,500 miles, I would say buy the car on its condition and for the right price. Low mileage does not always mean a bargain, so make sure everything works and have the car fully serviced immediately. ...
