Your advice should be followed as it is very easy to get ripped off. You also get sellers telling you a load of lies.If you can take sombody who nose about cars with you.

Sorry HJ but you are wrong about the V5C. You are perptuating the common misconception that the V5C is proof of ownership. The DVLA make a point of saying that the person named on the registration document is not necessarily the owner.
A registration document (V5C) is not proof of ownership. The registered keeper should be the person who is actually using / keeping the vehicle and this is not necessarily the owner of the vehicle or the person who is paying for it.... Read more
David The V5C confirms who the vehicle’s ‘registered keeper’ is. This term does not, however, mean the same thing as owner." Registered keeper" specifically refers to the person responsible for taxing the vehicle, who is not necessarily the person with a legal claim to ownership.Ok, thanks for that John. If correct, how do you ever prove ownership?

Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help me with my predicament? I had to replace the battery in my fiancées fiesta and found out afterwards that she doesn't have the code to reset it. Would anybody know of a code to reset the radio or where I would have to go/ask?

Insurance quotes are around £1200 but a much lower quote from Debenhams. Has anyone had any experience of this company as they don't appear in Which ? Read more
Sorry Alan I missed the link.
I have been looking at reviews.co.uk which gives Debenhams 1 star rating. And loads of bad feedback....
The attached makes for interesting viewing.
From my knowledge of VW engine control and my experience of engine testing, my view is that these people are very close to the mark. Models without SCR are not covered - my suspicions are that a similar evasive technique has been employed.... Read more
I think there is a general problem with society - most people are too 'me' centric to care about the emissions, the boffins in their ivory towers dish out diktaks without regard to the impact - eg cost or hoops that need to be jumped through backwards whilst blinfolded in meeting the new standards - all whilst those who are negatively impacted by the emissions get iller and iller and consume more and yet more resource from the NHS.
There is no doubt that the emissions are very harmful to people, and to date technology has yet to find a solution to make good. All this tinkering at the edges is giving scope for another set of human failings - ranging from unflattering interpretations of rules to outright dishonesty with plenty of scope in the middle....
Hi,
Just wondering why car's lights some on,
when the car is totally immerged in water?
Is it the instruments worked by relays that come on?
or water making contact in the manual switches ..

Most of the dashboard lights come on when you get water under the drivers side carpet on the Peugeot 406. There are a nunber of multi way connectors under there and the leakage across them sends spurious messages to the ECU and instruments.
Just had a very enjoyable 6 days on the Neapolitan Riviera courtesy of one of our lowcosters from Stansted..

I remember watching a program about Italy years ago and the Italian man they were talking to said if you wore a seat belt it was like declaring your not confident in your own driving ability, He also said they tend to only get the body on their cars repaired once a year. Probably before inspection.

I bought my last second hand car. Direct from a trust worthy owner. It lasted over 10 years without hardly any trouble.
So that has to be good advice. How much does a dealer know about a car that he’s acquired at auction ?
