Annoying whirring rattle from behind glove box area that only happens when the engine is under old and above around 30mph... Any ideas? Was thinking maybe wheel bearings? Or maybe an issue with the front near side brakes? Any help or ideas would be appreciated! The ST has done 52k and has never had any issues before now. Read more
I keep wondering if I should buy a new car, first new one since a terrible Renault 9 on no-deposit finance years ago, a car that put me off buying new or Renault ever since. I run a 61 reg 1.6 Focus, which is very good, though it hates speed humps, and is a lovely car to drive. A new one would only be self-indulgence, I know.
In a local Ford dealer they have the new 1.0 EcoBoost Focus, but they seem pricey, compared with a trade-in offer. Am I right in thinking that the 'special deals' advertised only apply if you take out credit ? All manufacturers seem desperately keen to sell you some kind of credit, which I don't want. I don't want any of the other stuff like Gap insurance either. I'm old fashioned and just want to go and buy it for cash. Is this so unusual ? I don't want to lease one, or anything else. ... Thank you for those helpful replies to my post. When I can get a decent test drive in a 1.0 Focus I will take it, but until then I will carry on with the NA 1.6, which doesn't have to work so hard. It is still better on fuel than one of my last motorcycles, a BMW 800. I just don't want to spend a lot of money then regret it. I will continue to follow these reports of wonderful fuel consumption, using a lot of pinches of salt, as always.

Astonishing there are no Yamaha X-Max here. The 300 is better in just about every way than the Honda Forza. Better too than the Kawasaki, although more expensive. Read more

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping for some advice on how to best sell my car as I've only done it once before and had a lucky quick sale. It's a T reg VW Golf SE 1.6L, it's got 18" alloys and is in good condition. I've looked at similar cars in the area on auto trader etc and undercut them, but had no serious interest. I've got in on several websites for 780 ONO at the moment, and would appreciate if someone could advise if I'm listing it too high a price? Or what the best way is to decide how much to list it for? ... Read more
that's right--keep it till it is no longer viable--but do you "budget" to properly maintain it during it's "life" with you?
Very much so. There is usually a crunch point that causes you to think time to change. With my 2003 Superb I it was bodywork, rust was starting to be a problem...

Firstly ,the only high pressure fuel is in the injection rail ,injectors and main engine driven pump. The fuel in the tank is low pressure.so not possible for the tank to be damaged by these. What is a possible scenario is that when the tank has been replaced, there may have been some debris/gunge/corrosion in the bottom of the tank that has found its way into the fuel rail system. This could damage the fuel pressure regulator and injectors, and possibly give a high pressure fault.I would also suggest the filter be changed ,if not already done so.
The windows on my Jazz appear to having troublesome moment. The rear nearside one is not working and the others work whether the key is in the ignition or not.

I am confused.
I have rung a couple of places for battery prices and some tell me that I will need to set up a 'trickle charge' to the leads as I change the battery as it will mess with the ECU, radio and clock settings - the clock and the radio I am fine with but the ECU ???, and others tell me that it is a simple "on and off" swap....

Check wheel bearing/s causes whining noises. Possibly heater motor starting to go faulty, causes knocking noises.
