Someone I know visited their local supermarket with a friend who is disabled (walks with a stick, has a blue badge), they ate a meal in the restuarant and did some shopping, spending a little over 3 hours on site with the car parked within a relevant normal bay in the supermarket car park. Unfortunately a private parking enforcement company has sent a letter stating the car was parked for longer than the authorised 3 hours and wanting a payment, reduced by 50% if paid within 14 days.
I have told them to complain to the store manager, supported by receipts with time stamps and highlighting the fact that disabled shoppers do need more time than more able bodied shoppers & asking that he intervenes to get the matter discontinued.... Read more
I read somewhere recently that total sales of Crossover- type vehicles are just about to overtake sales of conventional saloons/estates across the pond. Judging by the numbers around here, we may not be far behind. What is driving this change, seeing as crossovers are typically:
more expensive than the equivalent hatch/estate... Read more
even if the salesman was not entirely truthful about the previous owner. He said "demo" on the invoice, but when I got the v5c for the car it was actually a lease car.
If that happened to me I would be strait back to the dealer demanding a full refund. It missrepresentation and that is breaking the law....

Scanned through asked questions and can't find anything like this!
Wonder if anyone can help before this car getsscrapped, been having this issue for nearly a year in April! Warning light came on 3 days after getting the car , misfire cylinder 4 ,since then its been a journey of new coil packs , new spark plugs , swapping igniter plugs around etc etc and most recently replacing the head gasket because we were told it was slowly leaking and that would explain the misfiring. We thought all was solved until last week the light comes back on shortly after turning on the car , so far I've spent as much on petrol as I have fixing the thing , does anyone have a vague idea of what else could be causing the misfiring problem? ... I currently drive a Renault Clio three door 2011reg. Whilst I really like my Clio its not practical for me with my job. Here is my situation;
I am a part time nanny and look after kids of various ages and car seat needs. Currently the max number of kids I nanny is three kids under three which includes twins. They are all in extended rear facing car seats so fairly large rear space needed. currently the two smallest are in the back of my Clio (joie ianchor seats) and older kid in front (be safe izi combo) with airbag off. ideally I would put all three in the rear but am ok with having one in the front with airbag off. I have a twin pram with just fits in my clio so a bigger boot that we can pop toddlers scooter etc in too would be great.... Read more

Good Morning
I'm looking to buy a second hand Mini which is only 6 months old.
It has 2.5yrs remaining on the manufacturers warranty however should the dealer offer me his own warranty?
If something were to go wrong would I have the right to have him sort it out or would I have to go Mini direct?
Thanks in advance Read more
Good point BT, make sure the service history is spot on, hopefully at 6 months old it hasn't yet been in for service, but double check mileage requirements to be sure.
Hi,
Could you please tell me if this is a mot fail?
It's a 1997 Peugeot 106 1.1
This is how it should look, it's the other side's wheel arch... the circular bolt is fitting flush ....and inside the footwell , it is held in place by a plastic screw on connector.

the side with the problem , is the driver side ...

As a botchit, I put a bolt through ... this was all I had to hand tonight..

I'd image that it is definitely a MOT fail...
Does it need welding, or will a 1mm iron plate with a bolt and nut through, do the job?
The other end of the hole goes straight through to the foot well.... above and right of the accelerator pedal.
Also, how tough would it be to weld, as a diy project?
Cheers

ps, just for info...
in the end, I used some instant gasket, masonry paint & a pineapple tin lid :)
(I was a bit concerned about the sticky out bits , of the half bike seat post, ....and also the rain could get down the side of the bolt )
I put loads of instant gasket on the back side where the bolt and plate meets the body..

and as a bonus, now, the car has a lovely smell of pineapples :D
Cheers all

My x reg scenic has just suffered a broken cam belt, I have always liked the car especially the sitting position and height. I have just seen a lovely Citroen xsara picasso 1.6, 06 reg around 60000 miles petrol, 7 service stamps, my budget is £2500 which is the asking price, however it hasn't had a new cam belt, which would be due, the seller will not drop the price but has offered to do cam belt at trade which he says will be around £300, making the car £2800, is it worth it or are there other alternatives? I have also seen 9 year old scenics at this price similar milage and marivas with less milage or is there something else I should be considering? Any advice would be very much appreciated! Read more
Thank you I will have a look at the verso, unfortunately the scenic has lots of other issues, and I have been quoted 800- 1000 for repair for cam belt alone, so have decided to scrap it, will check out Toyota now!
I had my car serviced by my local garage recently (not a mini specialist) they forgot to reset the service counter so I took it back last week to be reset. When I drove the car home I noticed that my passenger door was locking and unlocking itself which was keeping the interior light on while I drove. I took it straight back and the garage plugged the car back in and found 20 faults on the passenger door. They tell me I need a new door latch but I am reluctant to spend any money on the car as I am selling it for Spares or Repair. They refused to fit an isolator switch to enable me to stop the fault from draining the battery when the car is not in use. Their reason being that "they think" the ECU has a back up battery so I will only wear that down if the main car battery is disconnected. Does any one know if a Mini One 2003 contains a back up battery within the ECU?? Or are they just trying to get me to spend the money on a new latch? Read more
There are no back up batteries on vehicle ecu boards. Re-writable memory chips are used for any functions that need it.
Disconnect the loom from the latch in the door. Or you could try a secondhand latch (or leave that to whomever buys it s&r). BTW the internal light will not operate from that door with the latch disconnected. Similarly the door open warning on the facia (if there is one)

The good news is the parking company has emailed today saying that the charge has been cancelled
My friend is chuffed with the quick response - the moral of the story is to sort out the relevant evidence then appeal in a timely way....
