The tailgate handle has broken off on my 4 year old QQ J10. Nissan claim that this is a rare occurrence, but a web search shows that this quite a common problem. Anyone else had this problem? Read more

For those reading this here is great fix that is much cheaper than a replacement

First thing, great car which ticks multiple boxes. However in past 6 months has clobbered me with £1700 of engine repairs leaving me shaken and stirred:

1. Carbonisation of sump owing to faulty injector blow-back. Fixed with new injectors at £700. Thank god I read the signs and put into Mazda immediately - "if you hadn't sir this would have been a £9k new engine. We're seeing more and more of these now - seems to be a real problem". Really? (Shame it's out of warranty)... Read more

Goldbug, would you like to tell us how old your CX-7 is? Mazda diesel engines made between about 2005 and 2010 were notorious for severe engine problems, but Mazda would have us believe that newer cars don't have the problems.

It is probably a car from that period, they stopped selling them in about 2011....

Hello,

Im sure im not alone here for turning to the internet when in desperate need for help.

Firstly, my name is Selina and I have recently bought an 8th Gen Honda civic 2.2 i-CTDI.

The issue is this - When I take my clutch midway to biting point, it rattles VERY loudly. If I hold down the clutch for a significant amount of time, I can't put the car into gear at all. It goes completely stiff.

I did take take the car to the garage and I was told it was the slave cylinder which required replacing. I got that replaced and it turns out, there was nothing wrong with it at all.

At this point I am extremely worried because the the problem seems to be getting worse.

I am not very versed with cars so apologies if I havent provided enough details but I am willing to answer any quuestions and would appreciate any help possible as I dont want to be conned yet again.

PS - I have been advised that the clutch itself is fine. Read more

I purchased my car from auction and the service book had 6 stamped all from Honda with a couple of invoices for break pads/discs. I rang Honda on acquiring the car asking if any warranty work had been done on the car at all (manifold issues, rusty roof, handbrake issue which are all common faults) and they told me Honda replaced the clutch on the 3rd service as a warranty claim was approved. No paperwork for the clutch change though

Maybe I should have said my car come from Honda MD, but no record, it might have been easier!...

I've bought a new timing belt and noticed that it is made in China.

I've always sang the praises of Dayco but, I have to say that it does not instil confidence in me when I read "made in China" on anything. Read more

The Chinese have the ability to match anybody's quality.

Hi,

When driving my Mondeo I have noticed that it has a definite hesistation, that tends to happen when the car is at a steady speed rather than during acceleration. When it hesitates the revs stay constant, there are no warning lights on the dash, no black smoke, in fact nothing physically looks out of the ordinary other than the feeling of the car hesitating.... Yep, the problem is now sorted and the car is running great.

The fix was surprisingly simple. I basically stopped using Tesco diesel and now only use Shell, since then it hasn't missed a beat. I did go back to Tesco diesel after it had been running fine on Shell for a while just to prove the point and straight away it started to hesitate again. Anyway, it's been running on Shell now for a few months and it's been fine, car runs perfectly....

The turbo went on my 59 reg Citroen Grand Picasso last week. I have an extended warranty with Warranty Wise - or so I thought!

On receiving the claim, they asked for the turbo and copies of the service history. The car has been serviced at the correct intervals with either Citroen parts and lubricants or acceptable alternatives.... Read more

C4 Picasso on Citroen website is 12,500/12 months for this engine. I can't see the Grand version listed (is it any different?) but is the OP 100% certain that his particular variant allows up to 24 months?

You can get the 2.0 TDI engine in the Golf and Octavia if you don't want another big car. Only go for the diesel if your annual mileage is very high. The current 1.4 TSI should be fine.

As above,no way would I be fitting a solid flywheel to this, especially as it has stop/start.This engine has enough problems as it is .No need to make matters worse. You may find that when the box is out,the dmf is serviceable.

I understand the arguments re DMF/SMF however this engine is at lower end of the tourque / power spectrum so would probably be OK with a SMF. However the DMF was fitted for a reason!...
