On the 1.4 TDCi engine, which admittedly has many different design features to the 1.6, the reversing light switch is at the front of the gearbox, behind the black plastic cover which guards the two gear-change cables. The switch is slightly higher than the oil level-check plug, so in theory, no oil should be lost when the switch is removed. Perhaps the 1.6 diesel engine is much the same?

The problem is fixed now which was caused by poor electrical connection at the horn. It was a bit of trouble to gain access to the horn and connection. The bumper had to be removed.

Hi,
1. It was dusk when I was driving but the street lights had not yet come on as there was still some light.I did not have my lights on though most of the other cars had.
As I approached a signal noticed that a red light had come on one of the mounted cameras which disappeared after I switched on my headlights. What does it mean?

2. Any idea how often people get penalized for driving without lights which are identified by a camera? Read more

I would imagine that fromt DRLs aren't linked to the rear lights because in certain types of light they might be confused with brake lights. I may be wrong on this.

Hello Folks.

I owned a Low mileage 1.4 (2001) civic auto previously for 4 years which was very quiet ( couldn't hear the engine when at lights) relatively sluggish, steering experience not so good though I got used to it. Very reliable....

TPM light came on went to reputable garage, pressures seemed ok, light did not go out but I assumed it would take a short while to reset.

Three miles later I get a flat tyre, took wheel to tyre specialist who said tyre was fine , failure was TPM valve. took to deslership ( Car is 9 mths old with 3800 miles only).... Read more

Compatible TPMS valves are now available from many sources at much lower prices than OEM, from about £30. You can reset the warning light from a menu in the car or a simple dash button, had 4 cars now with TPMS and its been this simple.

But if the stem breaks it does not need a whole new valve assembly on most models. The stem (which includes the valve) screws into the sensor part and is a simple to replace part for any tyre fitter, should be replaced in most cases when you fit new tyres since the metal can corrode....

Hi All

Passenger window will rise and fall with driver's switch but will only rise with passenger switch. In other words it won't open for the passenger.

Any ideas please?

Cheers. Read more

Suggest check the fuses first.Fusebox located at the end of the dash, behind the cup holder, passenger side.Another possible is a fault with the body control module that is located under the steering column. Not uncommon for these to fill up with liquids from spilt drinks etc.

I am finding that it is only Fords which fit these. A very old thread mentioned that this is because Ford hold the patent. Does anyone know if any other manufacturers currently fit them or have plans to?

I have one with my current Ford and it is a really useful feature on icy mornings and works very quickly. I'm surprised that the few other makes I've looked at don't include them. A bit more useful than the chrome plated gear knob that differentitates the higher spec models perhaps? Read more

I think some of the 1985 mk3 grannies had silver/zinc oxide coated film between the glass layers instead of wires, and worked faster and gave a tint to the glass

Got to admitt I only saw that on a couple of left hand drives, so not sure if we had them on RHD

I have a two year old Jazz 1.4 VTEC. I did the annual service including oil and filter change the other day. Left it to drain for a while, changed filter etc and then refilled oil. Manual states 3.6l capacity, so I poured in 3 litres (based on markings on side of the bottle of Mobil 3000 oil) and dipped the oil, it was well above full. Took car off ramps and ran assuming it would drop once circulated, but no. Still a week later well over. I measured the oil I took out when I took it to recycling centre.... +/- 3.5lt out, 3 litres in and well over!?! Today I have taken just over a litre out using sump pump and only now is it at top mark on dip stick... Any thoughts from anyone as to why this could be, what's the risk of the dip stick being wrong (not noticed it to be over full before) Read more

Soooo... The conclusion. Oil change at Honda main dealer found there to be just under 3 litres of oil. Refilled it with 4 litres which is their normal practice and it was reading well over on dipstick. They took dipstick out of jazz next to mine in garage and immediately identified mine was the wrong Honda dipstick. Still charged me for oil change as not their mistake! However, disgusted at the amount the charge for oil... They maintain I can't buy Mobil oil for less than £10 per litre, despite Halfords selling it at £30 for 5 litres! New dipstick is £15. Spoke to dealer, not their issue, would be garage that did service before I bought it, but not getting far.
